I just did the deflate method on my 11. Once you let enough air out, stop and wait. It took about 30 second after i stopped letting air out before the horn sounded. Then moved onto the next one. The last tire sounded the horn once, and then a few second later sounded twice to say it was done. Works as advertised and my manual says nothing about using this method.

Tried it and does not work on my late-model 2011. Needed the tool.

My build date was around 2/11. Doesn't make sense why GM would remove something so simple.

Oh man same issue put on my winter tires and tpms light came on shortly after. Dealer will recalibrate for free! Go GM dealers!

I was still able to relearn my 2010 and my dads 2012 using the manual process.

I changed to winter tires on mine, and all seasons on my dads last weekend.

i have always programmed my 2010 manually with no issues... but out of curiousity, will the tool posted in these links work on a 2010?

I was wondering that myself, but on a 2010 Silverado. The book calls for the manual way but the tool would save alittle time.

Here's my story:
- Went to Dealer in late October 2012 to have winter Blizzaks on winter Rims put on as I've done for the past 3 years previously which had no issue. Tires/Rims/TPMS sensor bought from Tire Rack as part of their Winter package back in September 2009.
- Left Rear Driver side tire would not complete the re-learn with the Dealer's Re-Learn tool, did not show up at all so battery feared dead - Service Manager advised me to get replacement sensor from Tire Rack which I ordered & received -- Schrader 28206 TPMS Replacement Sensor.
- Returned to Dealer today to have replacement installed -- would calibrate but did not allow re-learn. Called Tire Rack with Service Manger - Tech Support at Tire Rack said it should work with no issue as same as OEM Chevy uses.
- Service Manager called GM Tech Support who said perform update calibration to the RCDLR module (said its the Remote Door Lock module which also has something to do with TPMS function ) -- once updated allowed re-learn and fixed the issue.
- Cost me an hour of labor though there a couple of hours...

I recommend you tell the Service Manager of this update calibration to the RCDLR Module as a possible fix if you run into a TPMS sensor that will not allow the re-learn process to complete.

I have a 2012 LS. I tried the manual relearn process repeatedly. (I am not a newbie with the cars and this process is very straight forward). I followed it to the dot but it did not work. It did flash, it did do the two honks etc, but when I started bleeding air out of the tire, there was no response, even after I went down to 10+ psi to a point when my tire was nearly flat.

I HAD to take this to my dealer, who did this for free and the "manual method" did NOT work for it. I have the 2012 LS.

Here is some useful information that I found on the web later:

GM removed the ability to reset the TPMS sensors without a tool in all vehicles manufactured after January 2011. Here is a link with more information and a link to the reset tools: http://gmspecialservicetools.spx.com...0448_rev_1.pdf

Works like it's supposed to. Sometimes have to move the tool around a little to make sure it gets connected but no issues.

It is possible to relearn the TPMS on a 2012 Camaro without a tool. I know someone else here had done it on a 45th anniversary and it does work. It does not give you the option on the menu, but if you hold the button in on the end of the blinker when the TPMS is in view a question will pop up that asks you if you want to relearn. It took me 3 tries until I figured out I was going to fast. Like the pre-2012's you start at the drivers front, the parking lamp/blinker is actually indicating it as it is brighter. Let out about 5 to 10 seconds of air, here is where I did it wrong as I went straight to the next wheel as someone mentioned it goes fast and you have to run to each wheel. Actually you don't. Next step is to wait, I repeat wait, until you hear a horn beep this will take about 10 to 15 seconds(I 'm guessing and didn't time it), then proceed to the passenger front let out air for 5 to 10 seconds stop and wait again the horn will sound and then proceed to the passenger rear, then drivers rear when done horn will sound once then twice indicating it is done. I have not driven it yet but my TPMS system is showing air in all tires and I even checked what they showed before airing them up and then after and they seem correct.

This worked on my 1LT and guessing it still should be the same on all new cars even though the question is not displayed it still gives you the option to do it manually. You don't have nothing to loose to try it yourself before you bring it to the dealer and have them do it. Hope this helps everyone that has questioned it.

Edit, also I made a mistake and shut the key off during the first attempt and it actually resets all tires to a -- reading on the monitor. I just had to pull up the question again and started over.
Dean.
