AFM went off when I was is S and downshifted to 5 and back to 6. It was hard to notice with the stock mufflers but when I put in Solo Performance axle backs it amplified the effect. I got a diablo predator and turned off the AFM. Much happier now.

I know I have the problem either way. I think it is clear after reading many threads and posts on this, that some cars are badly affected, and some have little if any problem at all. Anyone have any insight on the instruction to have the dealer disable the AFM and re-evaluate? If I though my dealer could disable AFM, I'd just have him leave it disabled!!

I think its funny how L99 guys complain about AFM and LS3 guys complain about Skipshift, we just cant eat our cake too! V6s owners are just TOO happy around here...they must be eating the cake while were getting gas!

It's not as much as a complaint to me as it is an annoyance. It was my decision to change out the exhaust to cause the problem to begin with, soI'll live with it. Total stock exhaust and AFM works fine and is undectable.

I guess some of the guy's who want that V6 to sound like a V8 want their cake and eat it too as well. Not alot of difference.

Well alot of us that preordered were lead to believe the the AFM only engaged at highway speeds. GM really needs to issue a programming update that does not let it kick on below 60MPH.

That is what I think they should do. Either that or leave it as normal as it now but if we put the car down to M it should disable as we decided to drive the car that way.

My L99 has AFM kick in while I'm driving up a steep hill (going to my house) around 20 MPH and with it being under load you definitely hear AFM kick in/out. It definitely should be something that should only kick in when traveling at a higher rate of speed.

I was wondering what that drone sound was. It seems to be getting worse with mileage. Not really a big issue yet. Luckily no burping sound, just give it a little gas and it stops.

Well if nothing else, since I've only had my car for a week today, I was starting to think I had some tranny issue. I had an Avalanche with cylinder deactivation but it only happened at speeds roughly 45 and higher. I don't like going around a corner in my neighborhood and having to give it gas because it feels like the tranny is disingaged. Hope they issue some kind of computer flash or something so this can be remedied. How much gas could possibly be saved at 20 mph?

In Canada the Challenger has a $1200 gas guzzler tax. Mustang GT is $400 I believe. The Camaro SS is only $75 due to AFM.
