My Cleanest Install Yet! Alpine PDR-F50

I never planned on upgrading the stock amp but after I found a great deal on my Alpine PDR-F50, I felt it was a sign.

Parts Used

• ******** Factory Amp Replacement Kit (FARK)
• ******** Factory Fit Amp Mount Board
• Kicker 09PKD4 Dual Amp Kit
• Kicker FHD AFS (1/0GA) Input to (2- 4GA) Output Fuse Holder
• 3FT Kicker 1/0 Gauge Power Wire
• Kicker FHS 1/0 Input/Output Fuse Holder
• StreetWires 1/0 Ring Terminals
• NVX XIX22 2M RCA
• (2) NVX XIX2025 .25M RCA Cables
• NVX XIX2F RCA Y-Adapter Cables (Pair)
• And Various Braided Nylon Sleeves

I have a weird obsession with braided nylon sleeving. I put it on almost anything I can.

Lets Get Started

I started out sleeving the FARK output harness, connecting it, and test mounting it to the ******** Factory Fit Amp Mount Board.





Than I went out and disassembled my trunk and disconnected the stock amp.



I forgot to take pictures step-by-step but I measured out everything and cut the 20FT of wire that came in the Kicker 09PKD4 Dual Amp Kit to perfect length and started mounting it. Also, since the all the wire was blue, I used the braided nylon sleeving to cover the grounds to help identify them once everything is tucked away. Annnnd... Fast-farward to wiring connected.



I connected the negative to the chassis battery ground and positive to battery obviously.




As you can see, the Kicker 1/0 GA Ground wire goes to the Kicker Distribution Block and splits into (2) Kicker 4 GA grounds and (1) Sleeve that contains a ground for the FARK Harness and a ground for the Ground Loop Isolator (Haven't used it yet, but put it in there to keep it clean in case I need it for the sub later. Plus an extra ground wire connection never hurts)



The Kicker 1/0 GA Power wire runs from the battery to the Kicker FHS 1/0 Input/Output Fuse Holder with a 150A Fuse. From there it goes to the Kicker FHD AFS (1/0GA) Input to (2 - 4GA) Output Fuse Holder with a 60A fuse in each slot.

(1) Power and (1) Ground wire routes each way towards its respective amp location.



After I connected the power and ground to the Alpine PDR-F50 I mounted it and started zip-tieing the power and grounds into place.






Before I went any further I made sure that they cleared the battery cover and will not be an issue for the carpet.




Then I dismounted the amp, straightened up all the wiring, remounted it and zip-tied everything down.







Here is a picture of the silicone sealant I took a razor knife to and cut down a little bit to allow the amp to mount flush. I also placed a washer between the mounting board and the car because I felt the board bow a little bit when I put it on the first time.



Anyways, this is how is it looking right now.



Next...



I bought a used amp for the sub and it ended up not working. Im going to try and play with it to see if I can fix it. If not, the sub will have to wait for another day and another pay check.


So far I am happy with the upgrade. The amp definitely brings the speakers to a new level and the music alive. I do have a faint speaker pop when the amp turns off about 2-3 seconds after the door is open but I can deal with it.

Nice! Clean amp install is always good to see. Also, I have seen a fair amount of pics of single sub boxes, but never a divider or net. Do you still plan on using the trunk?

Very nice/clean install. I purchased the Alpine PDX-V9; is it possible for you to take a pick of your settings/gains on the amp? I'm still running the factory speakers for now and I don't want to blow them up before I purchase new ones, lol.

Very nice write up and install! I plan to install an Alpine PDX F4 in the stock location this week so I'm definitely going to mirror your set up. Where did you pick up the braided nylon sleeving? Did you use electrical tape on the ends or heat shrink tubing?

I definitely plan on getting a net when I get a chance to do the sub. But at the same time I rarely even use the trunk. My friend left his back pack in there for 3 months once before noticing lol

And I will take a picture and try to upload it tonight of my settings/gains. I actually took one before and it had an error everytime I uploaded it.

I bought the sleeving from BuyHeatShrink.com and I used the adhesive sealing heat shrink at the ends

I'm waiting to see what you do with your subwoofer amp. I'm wondering what to do with it. Maybe mount it on the subwoofer box? I have the same ******** set up. Don't really want to lose the trunk space on the passenger side with the amp mount. Keep us posted.
