To Small of a Cam?
I want something for my LS3 that will build lower to mid-range torque cause that what it lacks for a daily driver street car. I think this BTR stage 1 n/a cam would work great. Any thoughts?

Btr2 NA is the mid range one they recommend I believe. But you will always want more cam. Might as well go balls deep and get the 4

Rick Crawford Racing puts cams with similar specs in G8 Pontiacs and they run in the 11's no problem and with great drivability. Why not a camaro. I'm not worried about the "massive cam sound".

LSA looks a bit tight for a stage 1. Could add a couple more degrees LSA to broaden the tq curve. Then advance it to build the power early.
Take a look at Texas Speed. TSP stage 1. 225/230 114 LSA +3 Very close to what you are showing, but I think adds a hair more duration. They offer it in 112 and 114 LSA. The 114+3 should be a really nice tq curve. I talked with the cam grinder/machinist from TSP at the LS Fest last weekend. Telling him what I wanted... more power everywhere, still daily drivable, no bucking... slight performance idle sound.... their TSP Stage 1 is what he recommended. And they grind their own. Which I want to avoid all the quality control issues of the mass grinders. I've seen too many cams go bad from one of the bigger companies due to grinder burn/cam peel. Another interesting one is the Cam Motion Titan 2. It is a 113+3 LSA. I wonder if they made that one on a 114+3 core, it may be a really nice broad tq cam. Cam Motion also grinds their own. |

If you think it's too small then it probably is.
Not everyone cares for the same type cam. I've had a small cam and now have a big cam. The small cam will impress but the effort of putting a cam in you need to put the one you want in the first time.

I have a Cam Motion stick, a custom spec grind, with 113 LSA with +3 advance. It was spec’ed with road course reliability and good street manners in mind. Compared to CM Titan 2: I’m a bit more duration/lift. Compared to CM Titan 3: I’m about same duration, less intake lift/more exhaust lift. Here’s a YouTube link to one of my idle videos; several idle videos on my page. The NPP is wide open, so fairly loud in person. https://youtu.be/nIc-AXW3_aM

Having had both large and small cams. ......for DD......stick with your gut. Stage 1 should give you what you want. IMO, the 112 lsa is fine. But, as stated, 114 will smooth things out a bit. Good luck.

I wouldn't touch anything. Leave the stock cam in.

All these people say they want more low end, more power down low. How often are you WOT? On your daily drive how often is the pedal to the floor? If you drive where it is floored 90% of the time, and you need more umph, go for it. Otherwise just apply more throttle.
A dyno sheet shows WOT, and while it is nice to have "low end" I have never ridden with anyone that just floors it around everywhere. If/when you want power, downshift and go. I modern 6.2L makes more than enough to get around.
