I wasn't slighting a V6. I had a 2010 2LT RS It would do 155 no problem just took it longer than the V8 that I traded it for to get there. I would take either one back no problem

I'm 56, have three grand kids and I still drive both my 'toys' like I stole them. On the interstate and traffic permitting, my normal cruising speed is 85-90mph and I often push well into triple digits. Just the other day, coming home from Vegas, there was very little traffic and I played with a Mustang GT for over half the 80 mile trip; when I pulled off at my exit he was right behind me so I pulled into the Smith's parking lot. He pulled in next to me, got out walked up, shook my hand and said that was a lot of fun; we ended up talking for a good half hour about cars & driving ... he was also my age or older. Life is too short, live it to the fullest and have fun.

OP: I have no experience with Carmax, but, as with buying any used vehicle from any dealer or private party you are taking a risk. Unless you know the previous owner, you will never know how it was really treated. All you can do is thoroughly check it out; visually inspect every aspect of the car, take it for a good test drive, and run all available reports (Carfax, GM VIS report, VIN Check). Good luck with your search and next purchase.

FYI the only ticket I've gotten in the past 30+ years was one for making an illegal right turn which I beat in court.

When buying a used muscle car plan on modding it. New parts fix everything. Find the one you want and enjoy the life of Hot-Rodding...
Working on the car is half the fun. Buying parts is the other half of the life style. If you are going to leave it stock, buy a new one. Just my opinion.

Thumbs up

Thanks to all that have replied with useful info and advice. I appreciate it.

My main concern with my car, is the LLT and the potential it has to fail. It wouldn't even be an issue, if I could just through an LS motor in it if that time came. I love this car. Well, as much as someone can love an inanimate object. It's my first "real" car and this decision is a difficult one to make. I'm not upside down on my current car and will definitely take my time with this. If I do buy an SS, you can be sure that she'll be modded. I was going to start modding my car. That's also a factor in this deal. I don't want to invest time and money into her and get into a lose/lose situation.

all i can tell you is you havent lived until youve been stopped by 6 cops in 3 cop cars, and they all have their guns drawn and pointed at you.but yes,i got away with plenty until that morning.it did kind of ruin speeds much over 100 for me though.

Dont buy a car for someone else. The v6 is a good car and wont be a paperweight for a while. Take care of it and save your money for something even bigger
