Selliing My Camaro PRICE IDEAS?
Good Evening,
I think its time I upgrade to the new 2017 Camaro SS from my 2010 Camaro LT. However, I don't know how I would go about pricing and selling my Camaro. Its a 2010 with the victory red paint and it is an LT1, I am the second owner. The car is literally brand new (It only has 16000 miles) and it has the cloth seating, premium wheels, premium sound, and other things. It is still under the CPO Warranty (Until August) . If you have any idea what to price it, I would be very thankful. V/r codymahen |

Use NADA or KBB website and look up the value. The website will give you private party price and trade in value.

Agree! When i traded my 2LT/RS i got $22,500 for it. But that was 3 years ago, and my car only had 5k on it.

2010 1LT/RS w/16k mi is worth aprox. $16k trade in. They might be hosing you on the purchase price of your '17, but the trade in value is spot on.
Now through the end of May is the absolute worst time of the year to be buying a vehicle though.

get a price on the new car first, when they ask you about trading tell them you dont know.
If you tell them you will trade more than likely they will play the numbers game to make your trade look better but then also mess the new car price also. |

How much do ya'll think I could get if I sold it on my own like on Craigslist or ebay classifieds? I've sold a car like that before and it went pretty smoothly.

Seriously? Selling privately isn't worth the risk, time, effort, liability or money. Especially with the dealership supposedly offering you 16k. You would have to sell for 17k minimum to offset the tax benefits of a trade, which is above retail street value and even some CPO. You are going to nickel and dime yourself right out of a offer that no one can wrap their head around to chase a few mythical Benjamins.

Now, your situation is special because of the outrageous trade in offer you received - I'll be you were getting hosed on the buying side. If you are really getting a good deal on the new car pricing and $16k for your trade (which is really $17,280 if you factor 8% sales tax - that comes out of your new purchase price) then I think you gotta take that deal, 2010 LTs just don't get that kind of money for trade. I would expect a more average trade in would be around $12k, and a private sale might get $15-16k. With those kind of numbers, I'd sell privately. We're coming into tax time, used cars sell best in March/April in my experience. I flip cars on the side, doing 1-2 cars a year for the last 10 years or so. Selling privately is no big deal, just gotta use your smarts - market well, price right, and close deals. Oh, and most importantly - buy right, that's where you make your money.
