L99 Heads
Just wondering, how big is the combustion chambers on these heads? I believe stock gets me 10.5-1 cr. If I do a cam/head swap, is there a package that will drop the compression a little?

The chambers are right around 70cc. We offer TSP cnc porting for your heads, or brand new cores & offer machined chambers that can move the chambers up to 73-74cc.
We've done this a few times for the boost guys wanting to take some compression out of their setups. |

why do you want less compression?

Dropping the compression means you can run more boost!
I switched the heads on my big block to drop the compression down to about 8.5-1 when I put the vortech on. If I didn't do that, it would've knocked like a mother and eat itself in no time. It had small 96cc 396 heads but put the ARF's on it, gained like 20 cc's! Quote:
Hmmm.... wonder how much lower that would drop the cr when going with a 74cc Heads. Guess thats why people have to build the custom stroker bottom ends to drop the c.r. for the Big numbers. Still, thats pretty cool and at least I know now, thanks! |

In most cases your going to reach the stock internal limits before you can up the boost. Truthfully I am going to want stock to about 10.9 when I have my heads done and I will get a blower after that. There are LS3 cars with 700rwhp on 9psi. Do you think they can turn the boost up much more? Having the most compression possible makes for good power and driveability.
