I have heard of some of the Challenger fans paying $10,000 over msrp! If you
step back and look at the whole picture you will see limited production runs. I
would hardly call 8,000 a production run. Now look at the number of dealers.
In my town ,within about a 30 mile radius, Chevy dealers out number Dodge
dealers by at least 5:1. AND, GM plans on building 100,000 cars compared to
a max. (and this is a stretch) 30,000 Challengers. The way U.S. car sales are
falling and the General (sorry for that) state of our economy, I think a Chevy
dealer would be a FOOL if someone came in looking to buy a Camaro and they
even thought for a moment on scaring them off with talk of a price gouge. I
don't mind paying msrp, and maybe a few extra $$$ to the salesperson who
sold me the car to "Babysit" it until I show up to get it. You know, make sure
all the mechanics don't think they need to go on a 50 mile test drive to make sure it was put together correctly. Make sure some detailing specialist doesn't
put a high speed buffer to it in an effort to clean it in record time just before
I pick it up. I actually had this happen to me. Back in 1987 I bought a new
Black SS Montecarlo. The detailer kindly put 3 rows of burn marks on each side of the hood for me. A new car does not need to be buffed. Needless to
say I left it right there in the stall went back inside and refused to sign the final paperwork. The salesman told me that they would repaint it for me, NO
Charge" N O THANKS! Just what I always wanted, I new car with 6 miles on the odometer with a repainted hood. Anyone who is reading this PLEASE
give your new Camaro a 500 point relentless inspection before you sign the final paperwork.

You think a Chevy dealer would be a fool to charge $1K over sticker for the new Camaro, try this. I went into the biggest Chevy dealer in the city, discussing something else (a Malibu LTZ). When the subject of the new Camaro came up, the sales manager brought up the subject of $ 120K without so much as batting an eyelid! I've brought this up before, elsewhere, mind you. I can't imagine what the dealer in Virginia Beach would charge for one. Chevrolet is going to have image problems until it grasps some of the problems with its dealer body.

Even so, I bet that someone at the dealership where that happened to you on that Monte Carlo SS, I bet someone lost his job...

Patience and knowledge are what you need before heading to the dealership.
It doesn't hurt to get to know your salesperson over the Internet first. That way you can determine if they actually know anything about the car before you go to the dealership.

And don't expect them to know as much about the car as we do. If you find one that does know as much then you can be sure they're the correct sales consultant for you.

I'm pretty certain with patience you will be able to buy these cars for Invoice.

That's all it is. Like I said I made a post on here about how crazy the mark-ups were on the Challenger the first few months it came out, and now in my area I've seen two Dodge dealers with about 15 Challengers on their lots going for sticker or less.

That's probably how it will be with the Camaro. It hits dealers in Feb right? So March, April, and maybe through May we could see some major mark up on the Camaro.. By summer it will be going for sticker.

I know I'm probably going to have to wait until at least June, unless I can somehow get out of my lease, if the Camaro is going for sticker by then, if not I'm going to wait until they go for sticker which should hopefully be by next summer...

How easy does any one think it will be to buy the camaro SS at launch if I go in and tell them I will only pay MSRP, but I am paying cash one payment plan out the door or no sale?

Why do you say dreaming? The dealer pays less than MSRP, which is the suggested sale price. So they are already making money on the car as it is. Also paying cash up front, they don’t need to worry about the financing issue and they get all there money all at once. Every body wins.
