I had this same problem, Buy a ground loop insulator. They cost about $13-$25

Thanks for the suggestion. Is this a radio shack item or where would I get one, and where is it installed? In line with the remote turn on wire? What does the insulator actually do? ...john

It's actually called a ground loop isolator, they can be found at Radio Shack, online for about $8, or any audio dealer. It would be installed in your rca signal path to filter out noise such as alternator whine. If all of your equipment is grounded properly, an isolator shouldn't be needed but sometimes that's easier than finding the real problem causing the noise.

I had a thud when my amps shut down and a very loud chime. I used the diode that comes with the ******** harness and still had the problem. It went away when I turned down the gain on the line driver that was installed. Make sure all the connections are good in your setup.

Do you need a ground loop isolator for each channel?
