I have the solo on a v8 manual. The loudness did not increase, but the bass has when you lay on the throttle. Also in a week after install, it seems to have gotten even more bass.

Just also for solo hfc and kooks headers installed. Car exhaust is much louder now.

I have the Axle Back w/ J-Pipes on a Vert and I felt the same way at first. Give it about a week to break in and add a CAI Intake and it comes to life. Sounds quiet from inside but at WOT and from outside it sounds great. Really helps avoid the dreaded drone.

AFM is annoying but Solo does a great job of playing it down for an aftermarket system. Best thing to do is tune it out when ready.

I'll have to agree. I don't hate my Mach-X but man the first startup was so disappointing. Overall it does sound much better than stock. The reason I kept it is because the materials and workmanship is so good that I really want to like it. Its just a very well made catback.

I honestly think it's more that the stock mid pipes have 4 cats (or 2 cats and 2 resonators depending on who you ask) and it really hinders the sound.

I've got SOLO cats on the way and I'm hoping that will make it all better.

It will sound MUCH better with the high flow cats...very mean sounding when you get on the throttle.

I have the Solo axle back with "J" pipes, the car really sounds nice at idel, and WOT
but really do not notice any difference in sound at crusing speed.
There is no cabin drone, but you can tell when the AFM kicks in and out.
Need to tune that dreaded AFM out, but do not want to loss my warranty.
wish I would of purchased the manual, also told my salesman when he called me on how I like the car, that he should of mentioned about GM's F--U- AFM.
I cancelled out my extened warranty that I purchased when I brought the car just for this reason.
If I wouldn't lose my shorts, I would trade it on a manual, this is how much I hate AFM.
everyone have a good day.

The cats kill the sound, but sorry to hear about the catback. Get the HF cats on there and you'll love it. Seems like that solo is ment for people that don't want much volume, my car sounded great with just 1 chambers on the stock catback even before the headers, but still kinda tame. 4 cats are sound killers no matter what's behind them.

I agree with the other posts..AFM is ridiculous...my Flowmaster American Thunder is the same way...I dont even use it on the highway any more because it just sucks.
HOWEVER..the rest of the system is killer!!! Louder on start up is normal on most camaros for whatever reason..I have heard many of them cold and its the same.
Dropping the Hammer makes it BARK!!..very 60s muscle car
thumpy rumbly throaty muscle car, coupled with my CAI intake and its a great sound. I think SOLO cats would up the anty but I have to ditch AFM first or I wont have any teeth left from the exhaust vibration.

I have a vert and installed the Solo Mach-XC and I had the exact same reaction at first. I thought it was too quiet. But I fell in love on the ride home. I think it's great that it's mild when you need it and wild at WOT. Give it a little time and have someone else drive itso you can hear. I think it's agreat exhaust. A link below to my before and after video of my install.

Yep the cats are the key. The only reason I went away from the stock catback is my stock muffler baffles were rattling.

glad I bought my cat-back and hf's used. They were already broke in (and much cheaper).

Heads-up E.T. just bought headers and will be selling his SOLOs. Look for his thread called Dynatech.
