1LE tyres are slicks, can you even drive in rain

where are the grooves? has anyone driven in the rain, will they even last more than 3k miles?

I have about 7k and 1 track day on mine. They are about half cooked. I haven't had problems in the rain, but they are not great. If you aren't running traction control off and track mode you should be fine.

Rdoggy, wrong 1LE/tires

I expect to get about 2 track days out of my G3r's. I would not recommend them in the rain, they need some heat in them before they get sticky from what I understand. Probably a recipe for disaster on the street in the rain.

Mine is my only car and I have a motorcycle. Before I got my RE-71's put on, I had to call off work when it rained. I was too skerd to drive either the car or bike in the rain.

It rained a good one on Saturday and the RE-71's gave me no problems at 65mph (I would occasionally jerk the wheel to see if I was hydroplaning)

But back to original topic...I would not run the 3R's in anything more than a really light rain.

There not meant to drive in the rain, only way to do that is to drive right behind big rigs in there tire tracks, i one day we got hit 3 time in the same drive with hard rain, it was Not a fun drive with rain.

P.S. they dont like the cold, track day was cold on Saturday in the low 50s and it was 3 laps before tires got worm not hot, not fun for the first 3 laps, it got a lot better after that.

I drove my 1LE with the Good Years through a down pour for miles, never had an issue, you just need to drive the right speed for the conditions (if I recall I had to drive 55). As someone who has driven through snow storms and blizzards, glare ice, black ice, for 40 years in large trucks, vans, cars, its the same thing. If you don't know how to drive in conditions with what you have and have a good feel for the vehicle and the road, you'll end up on the side of the road.

The Goodyear 3r tires on the ZL1 1LE in question are terrible in the rain. If it is cold and rainy you are really pushing the limits without knowing it. Pirelli Trofeo Rs are terrible in the rain also.

I drove 700+ miles in the rain after taking delivery in Atlanta to Tampa.

It was white knuckle, especially having no experience with the vehicle.

Rain certainly is not where these tires do well, also, the tires "really" underperform below 50 degrees, they're not designed to run in cooler temps...be careful.
