Exhaust (flowmaster)???

I'm the proud owner of a new 2011 camaro LT. I have only had it a week and already making mods on it. One of things I want is the sound of a low rumble exhaust. Nothing extreme or loud. I have talked to a few local places that recommend flowmasters. Anyone done any exhaust work and what do you recommend??? TKS!

angie7...Congrats on the new ride!

Most local shops will recommend what they sell, flowmaster, magnaflow, etc. The best bet for you is to try and find one that has the sound you want. Check out this thread in the V6 area of C5 for video exhaust samples....

Personally, I've never heard a Flowmaster video that doesn't have some "raspyness" to it under throttle. I'm putting the MRT V2 exhaust on mine. Good luck!

Hi Angie...Congrats & Welcome

I have been looking at all sorts of exhaust mods to do even though mine is a SS. My wants were the same a nice rumble, but nothing too loud or extreme. I had my selections down to 3. I was looking at Flowmaster, Magnaflow street series, and Borla. I decided to go with Borla. Borla makes the high flow exhaust kits for GMPP and could get the Borla kit for much less. You'll also drop some weight by loosing the stock mufflers, whichever brand you decide to use.

My first mod was to put Flowmaster American Thunder on my LT. LOVE IT! Sounds good and rumbly and not annoying....

Angie, first off congrats on your purchase. Glad to see you are modding so quickly, i'm jealous. I myself have a bolt on exhaust system on my ss and it sounds just right. A friend has an ss as well and he got some flowmaster bolt ons for $250 and they sound just fine. Small investment and perfect for the sound you are lookin for from what i read. good luck

Congrats on your purchase!

The Flowmaster American Thunder Axle-back kit is something like $550 directly from Flowmaster. However, I would check out Summitracing.com. You can get one from there for $460+shipping. I plan on getting the Flowmaster AT Axle-backs soon. On the C5 page with all the exhaust clips there is one that gives the best sound representation for the Flowmaster. It is very difficult to find aftermarket exhaust the doesn't have a little rasp with the V6s. Borla does pretty well in minimizing the rasp. It's all in how much you want to spend.

Borla sounds the best but it is nearly twice the price.

The price for the flowmasters was $500 so that seems about right from what you all are saying. I'm really concerned how aftermarket exhaust is going to sound on a V6. I dont want it to sound like a POS honda, lol!

My b/f has a charger r/t hemi and I love that rumble and that's really all I'm looking for and trying to keep the cost down.

Check out lmperformance.com they've got really good prices. That's where I got my Borla from. If you're sold on flowmaster, they have the American Thunder V6 Axleback kit for 409.75-free shipping.

You have an american V6, it'll never sound like a POS honda, LOL
