Car Insurance Cannot Add Camaro

Alright, this is pretty messed up. I called NJM Auto Insurers today and informed them I was getting my IOM 2SS and I wanted a quote to add it to the other two cars on my policy. The woman referenced my VIN# and said, "I'm sorry sir, we cannot add the car because the VIN is not checking out." I was like WHAT? She also said that Camaros in Bergen County could not be added if their database does not check out the car as existing. It is too new.

I'm going to head to the dealership in an hour to meet with their autobody guy, test drive the car and then buy it if everything checks out. I'll grab some nice photos too while I'm there to post. If I can't drive this thing home because of this technicality, I'm going to be furious and probably out of luck as I cannot drop my current policy. Rates are too great and the company is actually the best in the state of NJ. Anybody else run into this type of problem? Maybe I spoke with the wrong representative.

When I gave the VIN to my insurance company rep, she couldn't find it either. Then I told her the car, she still didn't find it...but I KNEW some other USAA members had theirs. She just had to go look a different way (no the easy way). If the company hasn't insured one yet, it could get dicey. Ask to speak to her manager.

tell your company if they cannot fix this issue then you will cancel your policy. In a time like this they probably do not wanna lose business, that's just not right!

I have Geico, changed it online without a problem. Tell them to step it up or you'll find someone else. That's ridiculous.

Geico couldn't add mine as far as the VIN# but put the 2010 Camaro SS onto my policy and kept the VIN# I gave them for later reference.

Wow that's insane.

When I moved from Pittsburgh to NJ my insurance went up about 25%...and I was moving from a neighborhood where I parked on the street to a neighborhood where I parked in a private driveway far off the street.

I'll have to call around and get some quotes, I know for sure I can save from Geico. That "save 15%" stuff is a load of crap.

After you put the VIN in it said can't find so you had to enter the vehicle make and model, correct?

I was quoted 980 for six months with Allstate. It friggin ridiculous. No way I am going with them. I am over 25, clean driving record with less than a 9 mile commute to work.
