2SS vs Firebird Trans Am WS6..

I drove around this guy, and was proud of myself until I looked it up and seen it only has 320 hp…..

Was he stock? He might only make 320 but I'm pretty sure those motors were a little underrated. Also he's much lighter.

1998-2000 had 350hp. In. 2001 they added the ls6 intake manifold and it was closer to 360/365. They regularly dyno around 290-305rwhp. That being said the 5th Gen is the faster car. We generally trap 2-3mph higher (110/11 vs 107/108). I used to have two different WS6s and absolutely loved them. I ran a good friend of mine who has a bolt on and tuned M6 WS6 while I was intake / sort of tune only. Dead even the entire race. I'd slightly pull a few inches and he'd pull a few inches. When I say dead even I literally mean dead even!

Hard to find stock ones around. He might've been an auto and you caught him in a bad rpm but the 5th gens are quicker. How many lengths do you think you put on?

Factory ratings mean shit. Regardless of what gm said all ls1 cars were 350hp and close to 360 after the ls6 intake manifold was added in 2001

Not sure where you are getting your numbers but all published numbers for Trans Am WS6 are MY 1998-2000 WS6 had 320 HP / 345 TQ and MY 2001-2002 WS6 had 325 HP / 350 TQ. The non WS6 Trans Ams and Firebirds had less power with the exception of the Firehawk which had more HP/TQ over the WS6. By the way those numbers are brake horse power and not to the wheels.

If you are refering to the LS1 put into the Corvettes you are correct. 350 HP were Corvette numbers. The LS1 for F-Bodies however, had a different cam and smaller throttle body which produced less power even when the LS6 intake was added. I own an LS6 intake LS1 (2002 TA WS6) and it did not dyno 350-360 stock. In fact none of our LS1 cars dyno'd anywhere near that stock. Even the B4C Camaros did not produce those numbers.

They are quick, my buddy has a full bolt on WS6 and it kept up with me when I was stock.

He is saying all LS1s are the same give or take a few HP regard less FBody or YBody

I never said they dyno at 350/360...I'm referring to crank horsepower. It is pretty common knowledge that the f-bodys were underrated to not hurt corvette owners feelings. The dyno numbers were around 290+/- Personally my stock 02 WS6 put down 291 dead stock.

All 1998-2000 LS1 cars had the same cam regardless of if it went into a Ybody or F body. Same went for the 2001-2002 LS1. They are all the same. The differences were in the exhaust and induction. No one really knows the real crank horsepower of the F body LS1 because drivetrain losses are not exact but one things for sure and it is they are underated. There is just no other explanation for a 3450lb car without driver to trap 108-109mph stone stock with a advertised HP of only 305-310. I don't think the F body LS1 made as much HP as the Vette LS1 because of exhaust and induction differences but I do think it made within 10-15HP of the Vette.

All other variables being equal the 5th gen is about .2-.3 tenths and about 2-3mph faster than the LS1 4th gen.
