Oil pressure @ wot 45psi?

I have been trying to figure out what's going on. Just bought the car a month ago and noticed the oil pressure @ wot once warm only made it to mid 40's, @ hot idle was 25psi, car has 35k miles on it. I did cam and heads on it, while I was there I bought a new oil pump from the dealer and dropped the pan. The pan was spotless so installed the new oil pump and now my hot idle oil pressure doesn't go lower than 34psi but wot pressure is still 45psi, any ideas?

the oil pressure doesn't dipend on the pedal position but it depends on the rpm.

Yes I know that, usually wot means wide open throttle (higher rpms) lets say 5-7k rpm my oil pressure is 45-47psi

Yes I installed a new o-ring when I did the pump, Only change that happened was hot idle went from 25 to 35psi 2k rpm is around 40-42, 3k 45-47psi, doesn't really go any higher than that at higher rpm once hot

which pump and oil are you using?did you torque the pump with the correct wrench? i remember i had a problem during a rebuild because i set the wrench too high and the oil pump didn't work properly. i don't know it it is the case because was an other engine.

Stock pump from gm, 5w30 mobile 1, 18ft lbs. Positive this isn't the issue as before and after new pump results are the same

Wonder if the oil pressure sensor has something wrong with it...

The LS3 is a low pressure motor. Some engines are high volume/low pressure. That doesn't sound like low pressure for this engine. Hot idle is 25-28 in my experience after a track session. Having said that most GF5 5w-30 oils are very thin (including M1) at temp nowadays. Look for an ACEA A3 rated oil (most of the European spec oils) and you'll maintain higher viscosity at operating temp.

Look up the bypass valve PSI on the stock oil pump and you'll get an idea of how low the engineers are thinking max pressure is.

Could be the bypass on the pump.

Typically most shops will "shim" the relief valve to make sure the car will make more pressure at higher RPM's.

Odd that idle pressure went up though.

Also check your filter to make sure it isn't clogged.
