Question Electric Impact Wrench

What do you guys think of these? I'm no mechanic, I have no air tank and no air tools. An electric impact wrench seems like a great solution. So I bought one once... harbor freight. Didn't seem to work well at all, so I returned it. BUT I was using it with regular, not impact sockets, so maybe that was the problem? I don't work on my vehicles often, but when I do, a working electric impact wrench would save me a hell of a lot of time!

What did you not like about it? I have both and don't have any complaints about the electrical one.

The one I had wasn't able to take my lug nuts off. It was able to seriously deform one of the nuts on my S10, but that was probably from using the wrong kind of socket and it bouncing around like crazy instead of flexing a bit and gripping. But it couldn't remove the lugs on my Blazer and that was the vehicle I worked on the most.

I have an air impact a corded electric and a cordless electric.

I love my Dewalt 18v cordless impact,it has the power to break the lugs loose on my TA(100lb ft) and most of the time on the Camaro(140lb ft).

My 18v Dewalt will not break the lugs loose. My Dewalt air wrench in the other hand will blow them away. Best decision I ever made was getting air tools for christmas.

Had a harbor freight for 4 years before it crapped out. Over 200 ftlbs and it worked good, just heavy

Most of the time 2 or 3 lugs out of 5 it will work on the Camaro at 140lb ft.

It works 5 out of 5 on the TA at 100lb ft.

I always have a johnson bar handy.

Dewalt 20V Lithium, 100 and 140 tq sticks, and deep impact sockets... all from Amazon. Love it, use it all the time. Haven't met a lugnut yet it won't take off.

Gotta be careful with the more powerful ones. Which is why I use the tq sticks.

I have a Harbor Freight one for about 8 years now and its still going strong. Just used it again yesterday. I bought impact sockets the same time I bought the gun though.

I have a Harbor F, it gets the job done. Having said that, if I could do it again, I would have gone with a smaller/lighter trusted brand....

I broke a HF one that I got for free on my first use.

I much prefer my air tools, but I also have an 18v Bosch Impact that works well in a pinch

I've got a Milwaukee corded electric that I've had for 11 years now. I don't use it that much now as I've got a pneumatic that gets used as it's smaller and lighter weight. However, the Milwaukee still works like a champ and was worth every bit of the money before I was able to get a decent compressor to run everything.
