I travel to Virginia quite a bit and I agree driving there sucks! Virginia is a Commonwealth for a reason - Maybe one day they'll grow-up and be a real State!

For those of you who live on the eastern seaboard this is probably not news...

Now for the record, I was NOT doing 81. My speed was somewhat north of that. One of the first questions my lawyer asked me was "do you have a specialty license plate?" I don't, but apparently "CATCH ME" did not work out for one of her previous clients.

I CAN say that I was only north of 80 for 7 seconds. The second worst 7 seconds of my life...

0 points, last speeding ticket 1987.
I found that out a few years ago in a yellow C5 Z06 I had with custom plates that said NVERL8TE. I understand the whole speeding thing and getting charged as such but the troopers attitude was something else. Greeted me with a question as to my driving record and when I said clean he replied good or you would be going to jail right now. This was for 92 in a 70, hardly jail time worthy IMO. Had to hire a lawyer to plea my case as I received a summons to appear in court. Lesson learned I take I-75 to Florida now.

if going over 80 were reckless driving in CA, I'd be serving a life sentence without possibility of parole....

LOL ! Here in FL if you are > 30 over the posted speed limit, it's a mandatory court date. But circumstances dictate reckless, not merely speed.

The bad thing about ZL1 is that realistically under 100 it's so stable it's like being parked. You might as well just pull over and listen to the stereo... I'm just sayin'...

It just kills me, to hear this talk. I get passed doing the speed limit plus usually...quite often by some random bimbo in a crap box kia or something on the interstates like I am standing still. But it seems as if our muscle cars attract this abuse from law enforcement.

Toll roads in OK, just this week I had a Kia and a Honda pass me doing 85 at least, I was doing 5 over at 80... But they do not even give those 2 cars a second look and follow me... Go figure..

I still have WAY MORE FUN on the on ramp

2 years ago I worked out of the NJ Parkway barracks, a 2012 SS was doing 95mph north bound when the right front tire blew. Rolled the car 6 times taking a mini van out with a mother and 3 kids. The mother survived the 10 year old in the front seat survived both the 3 year old and the 12 month old in the back seat did not. He survived, he got a reckless driving ticket and a charge of death by auto. He got sentenced to 10 years on the death by auto. We dismissed the reckless charge......

He put you down for 79 because 80+ anywhere in the state is mandatory reckless driving and must be taken to jail.

Last summer I drove through West Texas and it was great! Higher speed limits than most all states in the country. Flyin down the road at 85 and had no problem with the law. New Mexico and Arizona are the same too.

Good for your license and insurance. Bad for your wallet.

Good luck I generally stay south in my z. I got busted at 1am on the strip in Bilioxi during cruising the coast. Was racing a cammed z06 and got clocked at 143 in a 35. The officer's said any other weekend we would throw y'all as in jail. But they gave us a break and said slow it down and look before you turn up. Then said good race. There is still some officers with common sense and love for muscle cars. By the way do the same speed in a 4x4diesel and don't get noticed. Good luck
