RPM Question

Hey Guys,

Just got my first Camaro! Its a Summit White 2015 LS Coupe!

I needed a car for work, this was always my dream car so I got it. Not liking the gas mileage.

I have been playing with my RPMs on my shifts to maintain the best gas mileage. I have been shifting at 1700-2000RPM. I usually maintain 25-28MPG on the streets... slowly goes down though. On the highway I maintain an average of 34-38 MPG.

My question is my shifting going to hurt my car? I have driven a 1995 Ford Ranger manual transmission for 9+ years. I know how to shift, but it never had a RPM Gauge. Will this hurt my tranny at all? the car drives extremely smooth even during the shifts.

Thanks guys!

I would say you're getting great gas mileage, but you can definitely be far more aggressive with your shifts. You're barely touching the power band shifting at 2K.

Just for fun sometime, try shifting around 4.5K-5K RPM for a few drives. It'll put a grin on your face.

Oh you have no idea. When the dealer gave me half a tank. I had my fun! It will be better when my job hits me up with my raise. Right now I'm tight on cash. My drive is 27 Miles one way :(

Gas is1/2 price from couple of years ago. Maybe a Honda Civic would have been better suited for you. Just sayin.

Bro,

I live a life where money comes and goes, same thing with gas. Its just another expense. When you spend more money, you go an make more money. I wanted this car, now i got it. I will enjoy it and more. Sure ill get me bucket down the road or maybe a bike.
