Went to Slowhawk for Meth Install but

Had my car trailered to Slowhawk Performance for a install of an alky control kit, retune and couple other odds and ends. Plan was it would take 2 days when he started. Car has developed a knock issue towards the end of last year that I thought was resolved from old shop. I've been using a 1/2 can of torco at every fill up and a full can for track days. Not wanting to play roulette with the motor anymore I figured I use the meth for octane. It's a street car and race gas is out of the question.

Couple days ago Don sent me an email stating rear was clicking just pulling it in shop. I asked him to please check it for me and I also mentioned it howls when lightly on throttle and I've been told this is normal nvh previously. He finally had a chance to check it yesterday and emailed me last night.

Driver side rear axle is toast, rear noise is bearing/gear setup, tons of knock which you figured, should be able to tune that all out. He also asked if I had stock gears or different ratio because trans is shifting like a gear swap with no trans tune.

Not really what I wanted to hear. I understand the whole concept of "you gotta pay to play." I have, numerous times for same issues. Everything that has broken I've upgraded. Broke stock axle at track upgraded them. Broke spider gears on original pumpkin replaced them and at same time did posi mod and billet caps. Developed bad vibration and rear noise and was told I bent my ds. I upgraded that and still had vibration and rear noise. Brought car in numerous times after even paying a diagnosis fee to find vibration and noise. Was told ds had too much runout. Than axles were bad, than ds was too short and had to shim trans. Get car back vibration is gone but an axle falls off while making a turn at 5 mph. Come to find they were never torqued at the stub. New axles again no vibration but still rear noise. Have ds checked again its still short. New ds and still rear noise.

Finally changed pumpkin, posi mod and billet caps also added to this one. Drive car, still rear noise. Told to try a heavier gear oil. No help. At this point I say screw it. Not going to throw anymore money at it. This has gone on long enough. New problem surfaces. I'm seeing knock. Check everything to make sure its tight even swapped exhaust thinking it's false knock, nope still there. Bring car back to tuner who drives with me up and down hwy for an hour and adjusts tune. No comment made on rear screaming. Go to track rental, first pass no knock I'm happy. 2nd pass like 2 degrees. Not so bad. Wasn't able to check 3rd and 4th until home laptop died... All I can say is not good. And now It's at slowhawks with the whole rear apart. Don doesn't want to take any chances after I told him history and would like to put this to bed once and for all.

Don't ask who the shop was I will not provide that info. I'm sure if you search hard enough you can find out. I just needed to vent and get rid of some of my frustration.

Anytime you have to put money into something that you already have, and got no resolvement of the issue, is not turning a frown upside down. At least something is being done about it. And you know that you're car is being taken care of before someone else's.

Don't you have stock trans and rear end?

Why the custom length DS?

From what was explained to me is some of the 2010 auto's had to have a custom shaft length because they were a little longer. I was one of those lucky auto's.

Seems like you and Jamie share the same luck.
