Pedders Supercar Coilovers

Who has 'em? How do you like them? Especially you track rats out there. This car's primary purpose is the road course, so the hope is that the lower CG, adjustable damping, stiffer spring rate, Etc. will pay dividends in faster laps. That's a lofty goal as the 1LE is so damned good stock, but it sits up pretty high.

Here's the plan:
Supercar coilovers
32mm 1LE rear sway bar
Radius bushes
Sub-frame bushes
Trailing Arm Toe Link

I've been milling this for the past week, today's decision time.

Take a look at the Pfadt adjustable ZL1 sways. I have them and love them. There is nothing like having the adjustability for each track you visit.

I have the Supercar's on my GTO that I ran at Camaro5Fest this year, and the car has seen it's share of track days. I had the Xa Coilovers before that, and the Pedders Struts (not available for the Camaro) before that.

The Supercars work very well on the track, the biggest thing that i noticed is the smoothness of them, they are much more smooth vs the standard Xa's. After a 40 minute session they showed no signs of overheating/loss of damping. The damping adjustability on them is easy, and repeatable due to the positive detent that you feel when turning the knobs.

No it's not a Camaro, it's an ancient relic compared to the Camaro, but the technology used in the Coilovers is the same.

Tim (TBone) was very fast at the CamaroCross, but i believe that he would have been faster if he were running Pedders parts on his car.

The Balance of the Swaybars being one key point, the Balance of the Pedders bars is gained by adjusting the front bar only on the FE4 style sways, but the 32mm Solid rear bar paired with the smaller 27mm adjustable solid front bar (Or the stock Fixed 1LE bar) just provides a better balance on the track than the other brands hollow same size front and rear bars do.

Tim, it was too bad you couldn't make it on Saturday, i was bumbed when i found out you couldn't make it.

I would leave your toe links in the car, you have the ZL1 style toe links with the spherical bearings in them and they are very good from the factory, no need to spend money on them yet.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Adjustable sways I have been thinking about.

Is there an adjustable Pedders 32mm rear? Or would I need to run an adjustable front in order to accomplish this, if I wanted to stay with the Pedders rear bar? Is access to adjust bars easier or about the same on the front or rear?

If you want to adjust the sways the only option is to adjust the front bar, but my recommendation would be to just replace the rear bar to start with. In the testing that we have done the Pedders 32mm FE4 bar in combo with the stock 1LE front bar gives a very good balance, and you may not need to replace it.
The 2 fastest cars at the CamaroCross this year were running the Pedders FE4 Swaybars.

One of the things that needs to be considered when talking about the adjustable rear outboard mounted swyabar, is that when you adjust the swaybar, you change the angle that the link sits in the lower control arm. Since there is so much more force that is applied with the outboard mounted swaybar, if you have a link that is not at the proper angle it can twist the lower arm. So it's critical that the rear bar and thus the link be oriented in the proper angle to give you the most effective swaybar.

I do run pedders parts on my car. Just not all of them. I have a unique driving style, more balls than brains, and have been adjusting the car accordingly.

Yea, Saturday was a real bummer. I had a preplanned family get together with family that came in from Cali. There is always next year.

The parts work great...there is a learning curve with the Supercar Coilovers...you have to find the settings that work best for you, as there is no magic formula for the road course versus autocross, it takes time to figure them out and get the car reacting the way you want it too....I've had them for a while and still play with the settings to try and fine tune....They are well worth it though once you get them figured out...I know just a couple of clicks when Autocrossing can improve my times by 1/2 second or more...that is a lot in a sport that you win or lose by 1/10ths of a second....

That will be the challenge for me. I've lowered a few cars, but this will be my first time with adjustable coilovers. Pete is giving me starting values. I will be like Cole Trickle, I hope I can figure out which knobs to turn to do what, LOL.

Any advice on how to study up and learn how to tune suspension? I know Pedders has technical info on their site, I've only browsed it.

Jordan took second and is on Pfadt ZL spec sway bars.

The Pedders bars are excellent though, don't get me wrong.
