If this works then I just sealant/wax again?

Dumb question inbound but it's one I can't figure out.

What's the point of sheeting? I get beading showing hydrophobic properties but when is sheeting every going to matter in a real world application? Water or rain is never going to have that sort of volume in such a short amount of time. So what's the point; is it show how fast water leaves the surface of the vehicle?

Then again I live in the desert, so wax for me is about looks since it's rarely going to come into contact with water.

Yeah its how fast water clears. When the surface is hydrophobic enough that cohesion of water molecules is stronger than adhesion of water to the surface.

Only time it matters in a practical sense is when washing. More water you can sheet off means less water you have to towel off. Could be argued that it might help water run off the car when it rains thus reducing the possibility of water spotting but that's getting a little iffy in my opinion.
