Road debris?
(I wont put up pics because the scratches are too small to capture with a camera anyway.)
I noticed that after my cat decided go jump up onto the hood of my Camaro there were some very slight dinks/scratches about the size of a keyboard asterisk. I found about 3-5 of them and they're all located above the grille and in front of where the hood panel ends. I'd been wondering if they were just from driving on bigger roads since I would sometimes hear something hit my car as if there were tiny rocks being kicked up by other cars . What-the-dealio? |

I must run over rubber all the time-its in my wheel-wells,rear. However the otherday I did go out side and noticed about the samesize as you spoke of, but it was a chip, down to the primer. Death to whatever caused it.

door dings and key marks... NOOOOO! I think that is all of our fears. In 4200 miles, I have yet to really leave my car anywhere I cant see it for long periods of time. I mean I went to walmart for a second once and sams club once briefly but nothing too long... too scared. It will be a long time before i take it ot the cinema or heaven forbid the mall!

Unfortunately "not tailgating" won't do a thing to help flying rocks. I have been two lanes over, and several car lengths back when a rock will fly out from an 18 wheeler and hit my car. Not just the Camaro but other cars I have owned. If only it were as simple as not tailgating...
However, search and read up on the clear bra's. They will protect your front end paint from just this type of issue. Not everyone likes them, but they are worth it to me. I have one and have a couple of scuff type of marks on the clear bra (7500 miles - 4 months), but I know that the paint underneath is just fine!!!
