Ford unveiling Boss Mustang Aug. 13th?

With all-new powertrains debuting in the 2011 Ford Mustang, you knew it was just a matter of time before a new limited-edition model was introduced. Well, it looks like that time may be next week. As you all know very well by now, the 2011 Mustang GT has the new Ford 5.0 V8 underhood. Since the new race version (above) wears the Boss 302R moniker, a new street-going Boss 302 seems like a no-brainer.

During a recent Grand-Am race, the announcers let slip that the consumer-spec Boss 302 would debut in mid-August at Laguna Seca as part of Pebble Beach week. (The exact date spinning around the rumormill is August 13.) The Boss reportedly delivers about 430 horsepower with a price in the low $30,000 range. Ford's motorsports partner, Multimatic, is apparently building some special parts for the Boss 302, but we'll have to wait until next week to find out those specifics if indeed this rumor is true. Check out the video after the jump.

If it sales in the low 30s and has an even better suspension setup than the 2011 and has more hp, it will be a hit.

Mark up will probably be stupid though.

Then.. come 2012 they dump all the super special 'parts' into the joe blow 5.0 and say 'Lookie me, I haz moar powar than Camero!"

Then the Fanboy s**tstorm starts. Meanwhile at Rencen a new dark matter LS engine is being prototyped. For once a Camaro will actually operate using Ford Mustangs as a fuel.

Oh yeah, Boss 302. 1970 Boss 302 is one of my all time favorite cars. Glad to see a new version.

Now if only they could pull it off by using the proper Yellow, and flat black PAINT rather than vinyl stripes.

If they don't Ford is dead. Dead.

Dead..

N' Dead.

I give them credit for at least offering a special model with extras. There really has not been anything like that for Camaro.

And also true. Them Ford dealers love to mark up anything that isn't a base model. I still feel its a damn shame what they did to the GT500.

Not sure what you are alluding to. The 5th gen. Camaro when first released was marked up extensively. Same thing for the Indy Pace Car replica.

Pinning a markup just on Ford is ridiculous.

Not sure what you paid for your Camaro but I will say I paid less than MSRP for my GT500 and my GT.

Back OT. I am not a fan of this idea. If it is watered down, not a good mark for Ford.

Exactly. Look at how a dealer wants to charge a $20K mark-up on the Volt.
