Wow only older Tint shops still cut the tint on the glass. All the new stuff ( Past 5 years) uses computers that cuts the tint to the correct window shape and size. I would be pissed!

I can't get that melody out my head as I heard it again this morning: "Safelite repair. Safelite replace."

Here's where I'm at. I'm going to take the adult route and see if he will pay out of pocket. He did it outside of his companies knowledge. He also stole business from Chevrolet. I will report him to better business bureau for operating a business without a valid licence, contact Chevrolet and inform them he is stealing their business and them go to the company he works for and inform them he is doing side jobs, and lastly the IRS for not reporting taxes.

I hope you learned your lesson on getting side jobs! Companys wont do anything because he did a side job as long as he didnt do it onsite and during paid working hours. Also you would have to prove he is running a business vs doing a 1 time tint job as a favor for the BBB or IRS to get involved. Good luck. Its a very grey area your in.

Your answer is in your question. This is going to sound harsh, I don't mean to come across that way, I wish I was a better writer, but I am not. So... I own a Professional Remodeling Co. I see it all the time, people are always trying to get things done cheaper. Unfortunately you got what you got because you didn't want to pay a full time, reputable shop to do the work. Luckily it's only a car, I see stuff like this with everything from Plumbing to electric to structural issues. People buy $100k-$500k homes and just get anyone to "fix" them up.... When it comes to remodeling, I have no sympathy for someone knowingly hiring someone without a business or a license and they get taken. You knew you were going around the Chevy dealer...if it looked good you think you won....when it looks bad...you want to blame him... Sorry you got taken, I hope you can get it fixed.

Thats not good he used the wrong blades on your glass and pushed way to hard in some areas. The glass should be able to be ground and buffed. The poor quality of the tint you mentioned will have to be redone.
Good Luck I hope it all works out for you. |

I didn't hire him. For valentines day my wife who knows nothing about cars did it. So what am I going to do? Rip her head off for trying to do something sweet. The guy came by and did it while I was sleeping. Probably should have told the entire story.

There is no reason this post should have been moved. It is clearly covered under the general forum. I'm not asking for advice. I'm telling a story.
