Clay bar/wax question
Hey guys, I would like to get some opinions on wether or not it's okay to clay/wax my car outside. Here's the thing; Let's say I wash my car and pull it under the carport (don't have a garage). While I'm claying/waxing fine dust particles from the air will be settling on the car. I'm afraid the clay bar/wax applicators mixed with the dust might leave swirl marks. Anyone know if that's a valid concern? I can borrow a garage if I need to, but I don't want to use someone else's water to wash, so I'd have to wash at home then drive to their house, which would leave me with the same problem I have at home: dust on the car. Any info is appreciated.

As long as you use enough detail spray to keep the paint wet you will be fine.

You dont want to do it on a windy day, however doing it outside is fine especially if you are using a over the counter grade clay (ie... Adams, Mothers, Meguars). Dont dry the car and use plenty of clay lubricant/detail spray as SSOUCH said. Also remeber to keep kneeding the every so often. A good rule of thumb is every pannel to ball it back up and then reflatten into a pancake. Dont forget to to mist your your clay and your hands or gloves witht the lubricant to prevent sticking. And of coarse if you drop it discard immediatly. Hope that helps
