DIY: HOW TO REMOVE A/C VENT BEZELS ON 2012-UP CAMARO

so i found a way to take out the A/C vent bezels for the 2012-UP CAMARO (with the help of Chris81106 and stieger)

NOTE: THE CENTER A/C VENT BEZELS IS ONLY FOR 2012-UP. FOR 2010-2011 MODELS, YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE WHOLE DASH.

tools:
trim removal tool
7mm ratchet

for the 2 circle side vents, basically you can pop off the side of the dash, like you were going to access the fuse box. there are THREE 7mm bolts that hold the vent in place. undo those screws and just pull the plastic vent and the pop the bezel out.





for the center a/c vent, first pull out the long dash strip using the trim removal tool. then remove the FIVE 7mm bolts underneath it.



next lift the shifter bezel (piece with the tray/gauges) out of the way using the trim removal tool. then remove the TWO 7mm bolts underneath radio. then pop off the radio bezel using a trim removal tool.

heres a video on how to remove the radio bezel:



then, pop off leather trim section using the trim removal tool and the unbolt SEVEN 7mm bolts from the A/C vent. next, unclip the bezel from the vent.






once done painting, reinstall in reverse order.

It's the exact same procedure on 2010's and 2011's - except that we can't remove the center A/C bezel.

I mean it is removable, you just need to remove the whole dash. I said screw it and just hand painted mine. It's not perfect, but it's better than the OEM silver.

I'm definitely not removing the whole dash for a 6" wide piece of plastic

I can't hand paint mine cause of the metallic flake, but I'm gunna try and figure something out... I hope

Stieger is it possible just to unclip part of the dash near the center vent and reach behind and take the bezel off?

Don't think so though. To remove the bezel you have to pull it backwards (so further into the dash), as you can't remove it by going out the hole in the dash. If that makes sense.

What I'm Gunna try and do its removing the trim above (to paint), from there I was Gunna try and pry open just the part of the dash around that center vent, if I can get enough room to reach my hand behind to remove that piece, is there a DIY for removing the dash? Or is it just clips like everything else?

I personally wouldn't try that, you're just asking for something to go wrong and your dash be screwed up. While I don't know of any DIY I'm sure 2SSRS could explain to you how to remove it.

Just took apart my driver side vent, there is a fourth screw holding the vent itself in on the backside so you can not completely take it out but you can pry the bezel out not too hard so you don't snap anything

how do you remove the plastic dash trim? i can find any info on this.
