You don't think it's just a little bit odd that they moved from the front door without even ringing twice to the carport, took photos of the car, and ignored you banging on the door?

When in doubt... EMPTY THE MAGAZINE!

imho, he crossed the line when he entered the carport. not cool.

to the OP,

NO you are not being paranoid!!! You're being smart!

You should not open your door if you do not feel comfortable doing so!!!

You should not feel unsafe in your own house/property!!!

Do not get a gun unless you plan on using it on someone!!
It's BAD ADVICE for someone to recommend to you... "go buy a gun or taser".
It can be even more dangerous for you..
(I have a S&W .40 & would gladly use it if I had to)

Do get a NO SOLICITING sign, if they ignore it they are breaking the law & can be arrested!!!

It seems to me you did the right things.

How do you know that he had a gun? Is everyone allowed to have a gun where you live?

Still bringing a knife to a gunfight is better than coming into that fight with nothing at all.

Now that I think about it, really don't get a gun. Depending on the law, if the cops find out you are in deep s*it.

However, if having a taser in your area is not against the law, then you should be able to get one. Also, make sure that the law states that you can use it. Unfortunately, you will need to go to class to learn how to use them, they are usually offered by officers or retired officers, military personal, private detectives, and even security guards. You may need to be shocked even just to see how it feels, but besides the tingling for a couple of minutes it's really not that bad. Although, I have never been shocked nor own one, this is what my officer, security and private detective friends have said.

Also, the no soliciting/trespassing sign, is a good idea. Even if they don't read it, you can call the cops and have them arrested.

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you"

The "nice bikes" comment bothers me. I could see that being said as a veiled threat that the bikes are going to be missing soon.

Ugh. Some people just suck.

Wasn't it proven on deadliest warrior that a ninja would never survive against a gun?

At least it's coming back finally.

Probably. But they are large enough that it automatically deters 99% of people.

Believe me I have a glass storm door and people coming to my door (strangers) are immediately intimidated.

The fact he rang the doorbell was the good fact. If he was up to no good, I doubt he'd ring the doorbell and then sneak around the house. Unless he was up for a challenge.

Not always, This happened to a female friend of mine guy rang the doorbell and made a break for the back of the house knowing the occupants would be going for the front door. Luckily her boyfriend was there and taking the trash out said back door at that time and scared the guy off. Ringing the doorbell and leaving I would take as a bad sign.

To the OP no you are not being paranoid, I tell my fiance all the time to not answer the door for anybody if I am not home unless its somebody you are expecting. We had a guy roaming around our area not to long ago dressed as a pizza delivery guy for a big name company car sign and everything. He would knock on girls doors and when they answered he would force his way in. Also if I would give you any advice next time simply watch them through the sliding glass door. By going up to it they can see you, and see you are alone and that glass door wont stop much. Stand around a corner and just keep and eye on them or call a neighbor and have them look out and see what is going on if possible. You are not being paranoid you are being safe. Like they say, be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

Mr. Glock 30 and Sir Remington 12 Gauge are my friends in this kind of situation. If someone was on my property trespassing, they'd have some 'splainin to do.
