No changes other than putting the passenger seat back in and adding some weight to bring a passenger down to the track. The weather was a little bit nicer which more than made up for the added weight, D/A was +1100 at the time of this pass. Sorry Rhino79, had to bump ya out of the #2 spot for now. Hoping to be the fastest stock block N/A 5th gen soon!

What are you guys doing to get that kind of trap speed out of a heavy car? This is becoming a mystery for sure. The average cammed Camaros are around 114/115 trap speed. Actually, it just does not make sense.
Most modded ZL1 can not run that fast.....even with a track setup. It is so mind boggling. I saw a bone stock ZL1 auto go 11.99/118 at the Capitol Raceway in Maryland. It's just difficult for me to believe that some of these SS's are 1 second faster with 5 more trap speed than a ZL1 with 580 hp at the crank with a average of 490 rwhp. I believe in the times that are attained, however it's just something else is going on. Some of the guys are spending a tremendous amount of money and still do not get close to those numbers. I definitely don't want to offend anyone.....it is just my opinion on the matter. |

Look at the fast N/A cars 60' times vs some of the ZL1 60' times. ET is about acceleration, not just rwhp.
You've also got to remember the weight difference. I went 115mph at less than 430rwhp in a full weight A6 car, and I'm 270lbs. Pull a little bit of weight out of the car, add a 100lb lighter driver, and add 80rwhp and I don't doubt that these guys are doing 125mph. |

Your car setup is about right. And I have seen your car progress. The issue is the trap speed not ET acceleration. So you are telling me that by pulling the substantial amount of weight would give 5 to 10 more trap speed. I have drag raced motorcycle for over 20 years. And yes weight makes a tremendous amount of difference on a motorcycle. You can only take so much off on a basically stock Camaro. 170lbs would probably be 1 to 2 tenths if that. I do not see that you would have that much of a increase in the car regarding trap speed. The GT Mustang is about 200lbs lighter than the SS and I believe it is about 2 tenths quicker with a little more horsepower. And it actually accelerates quicker but not that much. Anyway like a said earlier, your car makes sense to me. So, these guys are running 500 rwhp or more with lost weight, correct? Acceleration alone is not going to push these cars to 125/126 trap speed.

Let's just say they make 80rwhp more than my SS did....
And they're 200lbs lighter (100 for the driver and 100 for seats and lighweight wheels and tires).... I don't see a problem with them running 8-10mph faster than I did. I think what makes it hard to believe is how many cars on this site don't run an ET or MPH close to what their car should be capable of based on their claimed rwhp. |
