A question for those on this forum with far more knowledge than I. What are the actual production numbers for Ford GT500's for the past two years. I am just curious about how much of production percentage the GT500 has compared to the Mustang GT. This might give us some insight into how many ZL1's Chevy might produce since it seems that the GT500 will be its main opposition.

Chevy will really need to up the ante to fend off the all new '14 Mustang (especially if there is a new '14 Shelby variant--which there may or may not be).

This is a long way of saying that I think we can expect stronger internals to be incorporated over the next couple of model years to keep up with any power increases.

Just remember the 2012 ZL1 power rating is not final yet.

For some strange reason, Ford keeps production numbers of the GT500 a secret. Some believe that a solid production number may entice dealers to mark-up a limited edition Mustang, if production numbers are unknown, then nobody can say its officially limited. There is speculation that it varies year to year but remains close to 5,500 a year. Last year the MY started in April, there maybe more GT500's produced this year due to the 18 Jan build date.

There has been arguments before whether or not GT500 sales and production are included in the Mustangs overall sales/production. I have a feeling that it does, My production figures are from the Flat Rock plant so regardless of what somebody may tell you, The GT500 is included in the total sales/production.

Edit: Now that the Raptor uses the 6.2, I could look for production numbers of the 5.4 made in the Romeo, Michigan plant and it could get me pretty close (Cobra Jets also use the 5.4 and it is available in the catalog).... BUT... I would have to wait until the MY was over... next year to give you a specific number... sorry..

2010 GT500 coupe production was 353 according to Ford SVT.
2010 Ford totals were 3545 coupes and 913 convertibles for a total of 4458. 2011 GT500 coupe production totals were 4149, and 949 for Coupe and Convertible, repsectively - a total of 5098 in all.
Total 2010/2011 GT50 production for coupes was 7694.
SVT did not include the handfull of preproduction test cars and crash test cars in there #'s for the certificates.

Well that saves me alot of work... That is probably the most incredible thing a new car owner could get... A certificate that shows you exactly what your car is....

I will direct all GT500 question to you from now on...

Wow, That is really cool... I have said this to SVT Cobra owners before, but I never said it to a GT500 owner.... "never sell your car"...

Looks like the economy affected the production of the GT500... This year it might be well over 5000....

Hopefully the ZL1 will get some kind of certificate or cool documentation.

Now with the help of the senior GT500 corespondents, it is seems that the GT500 strongest production year was it's first year with 10k+. If we take into consideration the economy and demand... I predict that ZL1 production numbers will be between 5000-8000 a year, as these numbers are still affected by economical trends...

My prediction is that the ZL1 will outsell the GT500 2 to 1 in its first year.
