I think I am having problems with my Head Unit. Or my JLAudio XD700/5 does not like my HU.... But not 100% sure.
Has anyone had there HU go bad. If so, How did you know? What was going on with it?

I have the BA system. Replaced all speakers. Center speaker not hooked up. This is my 3rd amp(xd700/5) and still have problems. First amp, after it would warm up. It would do all crazy shit. 2nd amp, was bad ( no sound front left. Sent it right back. Got a new one. 3rd amp and still having problems. when the volume is low 8 to 10. sometime I lose the doors climes. I turn the volume up slowly door chimes come back on. But right front speaker goes crazy. Like all bass and mids go away and I get nothing but screaming highs. If I crank up the volume knob up Fast and back and forth, Right front speaker goes back to normal sound.
Things that I have check.
swapped left and right front speaker to see if maybe speaker was bad. Not bad.
swapped line inputs, front right to left and left to right same to the rear speakers.
still have the same problem with right front speaker.
Sure could use some help solving problem..

Thanks

So you have a jl xd 7005 that you changed out three times and you are still have problems is it just the door chime I am think that when you hooked the first amp up you might have blown a speaker or your high low might be bad if you have a Multi meter ck the speaker Resistance or ohm if one is different then the other there is your problem. Also when you put in the aftermarket amp did you change the speakers????

Ok how high do you have the front gain set on the amp. Also I am assuming that you took the oem amp out and are also using the feanks amp mount and wireing harness try Turing the the front amp gain down to less then hafe and turn radio volum up and see if that helps also franks has a troubleshooting o. There page I have seems this problem a few times with gm oem gm radios after every thing was said and done just end replacing oem radio with an aftermarket one

yes, oem amp was taken out. The gain is turned all the way down. I guess your talking about the input sensitivity? My amp is mounted in the same place as the old amp and using the oem wiring.

I would call that a bad head unit New speakers three amp swap later and a whole lot of time retracing your install only point to one thing

Thank you very much for your input. Now to find a HU for cheap. I have seen a few on here going for a $100. but really don't want to pay that much.

I suppose you could get away with just replacing the brain unit, but I haven't seen anyone selling it separate. Buying a brand new one from GM Parts Direct is $211 (+ shipping I'm sure) so $100 is not a bad deal if you're getting both parts. I'd sell you mine (Brain, Control Panel, and PDIM) for $115 shipped if you want. Otherwise, Hampton is a mere 3-1/2 hours from Raleigh

Good luck man.
