All I'm gonna say is you need to respect the machine. You can get into plenty of trouble on a 600 (or 300 even). If you have a friend that has a sport bike I would test one of there's first. I would say start with a 600. It's got plenty of power. Even the smaller bikes are pretty potent but 600 is probably the sweet spot.

Looks like his Jacket was crap too . There's no substitute for good leather . I love how he blamed it on building materials ( Another name for sand or gravel ) . I'm thinking he was trying to get the back end of the bike squirrely and didn't count on the back tire getting as much grip as it did which caused the out of control wheelie .

That is a very expensive bike to Fix and Maintain . Even with bike experience that's not a good choice for a first sportbike . Hope you don't mind me asking but how old are you ? |

I agree as well. I've been riding for a very long time and wouldn't go anywhere near an Italian sportbike. Too tempermental and promblematic. The services on them are more, the maintenance on them are more. Everything is just more. That, and I've never cared for the performance VTwin sound, reminds me too much of a long drawn out fart. Lots of guys love the Vtwins, I prefer the "screamer" engines. Though I will say, Yamaha's crossplane(big bang) engine does sound wonderful.

If you want something Euro, look at the KTM 690 Duke.

42. I'm looking at the 600rr's and see what Honda will give me for my Harley. I'll be happy with a Harley but some reason I caught the sporty bug. I don't know why.

I will start with I have never ridden a bike, but I can attest to their speed from races with buddies.
One has a 2006-7ish ZX-6 and from 40 rolls we end up pretty close, with me maybe a nose ahead. I think those are like low 11 second bikes. Other buddy has a the ZX-14 motor on a ZX-10 frame, its easily a low 9 / high 8 second bike im assuming. I have him in 2nd if I catch, third is close but he is catching, 4th is absolutley no contest. This is with both of us on street tires, he needs DRs bad. That thing past 100mph is STUPID FAST. So I would say start on the 6. Still a low 11 / high 10 second bike.

Every summer I've ever experienced was hot and some were so hot I was giving off so much radiation a government NEST team found me and sent me to Gitmo for waterboarding thinking I was AL Qaeda. I tried telling themm I was just Irish but they wouldn't believe me. So I might as well ride a hot bike.
That is a true story. |

You'll be very happy with that 600RR. Black is a nice color too. Wear your gear and keep the rubber side down
