v6 v8 swap in 2010 camaro
hey everybody Iam new to this forum I just came home with my new imperial blue camaro v6 with white stripes and Iam loving it.
being a diehard muscle fan its not like me to purchase the v6 but I already have a 2008 ls3 Corvette (well modified) and needed something to get to and from to work. However , Iam thinking in a year a two should my urge to modify the car come over me can I dump a ls3 into the v6 and simply uprade the transmission and ECU? |

Most people aren't awake at 2am PST. As for me, I've never dealt with the engine swapping, but I'd have to wonder if you would need to swap the exhaust system and wheels as well.
Do you have the RS package? I know the SS has brembos that the v6 doesn't have, so you'd probably have to upgrade the brakes as well. We need a little more info than what you've given us to work with. Welcome to the forums though. |

then in order to have the equiv of an SS, you'd need
Bigger brakes, Wheels that clear the brakes, LS3, Transmission, ECM, Exhaust system. That's what I can think of off the top of my head. |

No. Has already been discussed with Fbodfather..... there is so much different it would be impossible/cost prohibitive to do a swap.
This Camaro is not like the old days when a cherry pick, some friends, a Saturday afternoon, and a 6 pack of beer was all you needed to take out the V6 and pop in a V8. |

If you were going for something extreme where you'd have to replace the SS drivetrain it might not be to much of a hit but otherwise it's going to cost a lot more than just starting with an SS. You can always mod the V6 though, in a couple years there should be several options for getting it over 400 hp.

Maybe you should take the V6 Camaro back and spend the extra cash on a V8 instead of trying to convert it.

you would need to swap the V8 rear end too, and all the other suspension pieces.

It would be MUCH cheaper and easier to twin turbo or SC it.

Not to mention a trans cooler install, oil cooler install, dash replacement, front fascia replacement.
In the end you'd have spent enough to buy a new 1SS. And yes, you have to swap the fascias otherwise say hello to a new LS3. There's a reason for these things.. <_< |

Weren't they able to bring out 425 HP in Jay Leno's Camaro? Its a v6 with turbo charger and an upgraded clutch to handle the extra horses. He even says that the car still averages same MPGs. I figure that should be a lot easier than an engine swap.
