I removed it to paint the trim, and it came apart so fast I didn't see the order the pieces go together.. there is a beige plastic piece, black plastic piece, red wire, and black wire.. that all go beneath the plug. What order? please help!

I figured it out. Beige inside outlet, black wire below, followed by black plastic, then red wire.
Screw holds it all in place from the inside.

This is a picture from the back end of the "cigarette lighter" 12v outlet.

It all came apart so fast? I mean? Huh?

Each piece nests into the last. It only really goes together one way.

Were you any good at puzzles as a kid? Perhaps you shouldn't be working on your car, if you can't pay attention how it comes apart.

Speaking as someone who has built a custom glass gaugeset based on android off that piece, I've worked with it extensively.

It's a pain in the ass to get apart, and by no means does it 'come apart so fast'

I've chipped the paint dealing with it, in fact.

And that's a 12v cigarette lighter socket. It may no longer be of that use, but calling it what it is would have helped.

I mean, this is a car, there's entire systems based on 12v, we have no idea what you're talking about.

Honestly, there's even 2 cigarette lighter sockets in the SS (not sure about the others) one on the gear trim, and one in the center console storage.

Both are a pain in the ass to remove.

Well Mr-smartass-and-no-help-at-all, I DID get it back together if you can read...
And I was talking about the "cigarette lighter" 12v on the shifter trim.
NOT that hard to get out, and once you unscrew the screw holding it all together, it literally falls apart.
Also, there are 2 sockets in every camaro, so you having an SS doesn't mean you're anything special.
I've also probably done A LOT more to my car(s) myself than you have.

Good to know if I ask for your help you'll just try to insult someone.
I hope someone will return the favor when you need help or have a question in the future...

Lol so that's what u were talking about. Glad u got it back together.

Don't worry about the criticism. There are those that believe everyone should know proper terms, etiquette and rules. Plus some just have bad days. What were u planning on doing with the socket??

Yeah, I just don't understand people sometimes. I'll bet he's one of those "tough guys" who can troll on the Internet all day, and likes to run his mouth in his car thinking no one will do anything or say anything back. I've been shot at and risked my life for him to have freedom of speech, but I have the same rights! At least in person I hope he watches his mouth with strangers, because you never know what the other person is capable of. I do not appreciate "bullies" and will be the first to put one in their place.
