2010 Camaro Indy 500 Pacecar!

I think it looks great... I would definitely have to add this one and the Daytona 500 car to my diecast collection if anyone ever produced them.

I have to disagree. I was never a fan of the Daytona paint scheme. I realize that all pace cars are flashy by design, but I think the Daytona car took it a little too far. I don't even think the colors go together that well.

Having said that I also agree with an earlier post which stated they would have liked to see this car use some blue and or orange to tie it back to the 67 and 69 pace cars.

What if GM showed "our community" 5 different color combos etc,we vote on the best look for the pacecar,and they go with what the majority liked...I was betting on the white with orange stripes bigtime...IMHO,but still better than a Rustang leading the pack.

Epic fail? That's quite an extreme opinion. It's a camaro and an SS at that. It could be pink and purple and I'd still be hesitant to call it an epic fail.

For all of you that want it to be painted like a 67 or 69, remember while it takes styling cues heavily from a 69, GM doesn't want to and shouldn't market this car as a carbon copy of a 69. The general public needs to view this car as a 21st century car, not a gas guzzling 60's muscle car.

Per the Indy 500 website

"No drivetrain or suspension modifications are required to prepare the Camaro for its Pace Car duties. The only modifications to the vehicle include a fully integrated strobe system, including a GM-designed custom light bar utilizing Whelen 500 series linear strobes."

That means if you are lucky enough to have ordered a new 2SS Camaro or are planning on getting one, then what you are getting is an exact replica of an INDY 500 Pace Car. WOW! Can you beleive that?

My dad, ever the marketer was pissed at the missed opportunites that the graphics on this car represent. The flames or jagged red triangles down the sides behind the wheels SHOULD have been bricks - as if they were ripped out of the pavement by the awesome power of the SS Camaro. Up top, heritage stripes and the Indy Logos...

Put me down as a person who likes BOTH pace cars, as they are BOTH Camaros and that alone suffices for me.

I am a serious Camaro collector and I have to say this Pace car looks like it was slapped together in a night to me! Look at the 1967, 1969, 1982, 1993 Camaro Pace cars. All of the other Camaro's that paced indy were special in exterior colors and interior colors. This is a stock looking silver camaro with some decals and special badges. Wow!!! Where is the special interior like on a 1982 Camaro Pace Car? Where is the special stripes/paint? I am sick to death of seeing SILVER 2010 Camaro's!!! All we have seen from GM since they released the prototype Camaro is Silver! Why not think out of the box? You want to build cars that sell how about doing something extra special? Look at the cool Z06 that paced INDY, that was a cool paint job. Many people are going to tell me to shut up, and that fine but I thought I would share my thoughts. I love Camaro's I own eight, but I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out what GM is doing with the 2010 Camaro. I wish GM the best, I will continue to support them by buying the GM product. See everyone at the Cleveland Auto Show Camaro event!
