vert mod
Hello all. I am thinking about converting old brown into a vert. Should I begin by just cutting the top off... I want to make sure the windows will still roll up... I have a really pretty bear hide that I want to use for the top, but thats down the road a ways. For now I just need to know if i should leave the middle piece btw the back window and door window???

How about cutting the top off, filling the interior with dirt and making a really potent flower planter?
If you restore that thing, take lots of photos, it will go into the "restoration hall of fame". Good luck sir. |

Really? Just buy a like new one - you'll save money, knuckles and perhaps your marriage (assuming such) in the meantime.
But if you really want to cut off the top, she will never survive. Better to cut off behind the front seat and weld a Toyota truck bed to it. That would be cool. |

There are many fundamental issues with this type of project. The biggest is the roof on coupes help keep the body of the car rigid. Convertibles are "beefed-up" in the frame otherwise they will begin to sag and bend in the middle during regular driving (let a lone any kind of crash). That is why convertibles usually weigh a few hundred pounds more than a coupe.

The cool thing about this is, right now it's a turd.... when you get done with it, it will still be a turd.

The only reason I would cut the top off is to make a 305cid hot tub out of it!
