Will Gas Milage Improve Over Time?
I am just wondering, on the highway with me varying speeds to the movie theater the over night only got 20MPG.
In town getting like 13-15MPG. She just hit 500 miles this morning. I sure hope it picks up some, this is worse than I thought it would be. |

Well ... it's not bad considering that the ls3 gets ... was it 23 or 24 Hwy ?
anyway give it another 700 miles and a new oil change and you should see some better results

The highway MPG should pick up since varying speeds in OD will gulp down some gas, but I doubt the in-city will get better. Especially since we are already on summer blend gas. Winter blend will take another ~2 mpg. |

We have a Toyota Tacoma with a 4 cylinder that picked up approximately 3 mpg from new until now. It occurred within the first few thousand miles. This is a documented increase since all mileage is tracked for business.

Varying speeds is bad for MPG, also hurts the AFM, what speeds are you varying from? AFM works best once the engine is warmed up also

I can't believe you would buy an SS V8 and be worried about gas mileage.

Easy....Pump the brakes a bit....it wasn't a "bitch"....probably just a concern since most are getting near the mid 20s MPG.

If you dont think people who bought SS are worried about MGP, then why would GM put the L99 in the Auto, with AFM? They know MPG is on the majority of peoples minds now. They want people who were on the fence to come on over to the SS side. The MPGs are not that bad. I would guess they'll sell 50% more than they would if it only got 18hwy.

I can't believe you all are giving him a hard time about questioning the MPG when it is advertised at 24 for the LS3 and 25 for the L99. I would be a little put off too if the sticker says 25 MPG and all I could muster was 20 regardless of what engine was involved. Something is not right or that engine is really tight right now.
Also, the LS3 was mentioned in the thread early on and then AFM which is only offered on the L99 so which is it. OP, which engine package did you get?
