Rear Trunk Blackout Options

Hi All:

I want to black-out the area between the rear lights on the trunk area of an IOM, however, I have seen 5 different options for doing this. Just wondering which option everyone who has done this went with, and how it has worked out for you? ALso if there are pros/cons to each option. Interested in an easy install, cleanest look, cost effective, but something that won't damage the paint or anything in the long run. I will be keeping the bowtie as well.

Options I've come across:
1) Vinyl Decal Kit
2) SLP Gloss Black Kit
3) GTS Rear Panel Cover (plastic I think)
4) Magnetic Panel
5) Permanent Paint (not really trying to go this route just yet)

Input appreciated.

THanks,

I installed the SLP rear blackout, I believe it's more of a flat black then glossy. It was my first time and the job turned out ok. You will need to remove the emblem to install it and then cut two holes through it in order to place your bowtie back on. I chose not to install the two side pieces that go in-between the tail lights. I still have that option since I kept them in a safe place. Good luck.

I went with #4. It works great and I can take it off when I want a different look. I usually put the black panel on for car shows. Here's mine..........

SLP blackout instructions?

I ordered the SLP blackout with the SS badges, but didn't find any instructions on how to apply the decal in the package.

Any chance someone could throw me a bone here? Novice only begins to describe me, but I managed to replace my stock grille with the heritage without breaking anything (either myself OR the car).

I went with the magnetic panel as well. I make sure to take it off after a rain and dry underneath before putting it back on. Here are before and after pics of mine

Number 4 for me.

Yes it works fine in the winter. When washing the car, take it off, and wipe with a microfiber to prevent scratches.

I stay away from the magnetics due to the upkeep of ensuring you don't get moisture behind them which will cause cloulding.
