Should be close based on all the magazine times. IS-F and M3 are both close in 1/4 mile times. And the M3 is close to the 2011+ GT. So i think it would be a pretty good race

A well driven MT SS might have a chance. I don't see an auto beating one though.

Very close race 2 of my friends own an 08 e92 m3 and 11 isf. I have an ls3 they always beat me until I did long tubes, intake, and catback. We are all average drivers now I beat them by 2-3 cars

IS-F is a touch quicker, but its going to be a drivers race.

IS-F's are a tad heavier and have to rev too high to get into their power band. IF the SS driver can overcome the AWD advantage off the start, they should be able to pull it off. A bad launch and they are done.

Huh? IS-Fs are RWD and have a curb weight of just under 3800 lbs, which makes them lighter than the SS

You sir are correct. I could have sworn it was set up on an AWD dyno when they first came out for the "drag test" that Lexus was doing at the LA Autoshow. I withdraw my previous statement, an SS should eat it for lunch.

Something about the car never took off, which would explain why lexus has killed it and it only sold 486 units last year. A 5.0L V-8 putting out 416hp @ 6600rpm and 372tq @ 5200rpm just doesn't scream sports car. That and it had 4 doors......and was an overpriced Toyota (base @ $62,645).

Some real confusion here.

First off...the Lexus IS-F is a RWD 5.0L V8. Please educate yourself at www.lexus.com

Something never took off? HAHA Lexus has not killed off the IS-F, the 2014 IS-F is the same model as the 2013 IS-F, because they are designing a turbo'd V6 to compete with the BMW M3 which is going twin turbo'd. As for a 5.0L ONLY putting out 416hp, wanna tell the Ford Mustang guys that? Also, 486 models, well, for the most part the IS-F is a order only car, so the people that purchased it, are those looking for it. Its a small market. Compare it to the M3 coupe.

Finally, overpriced? You're seriously confused on what it is. Its a LUXURY sports sedan. The materials used to build that car beat the living hell out of the materials used to build our camaros. Don't get me wrong, I really like my camaro, but you can't compare a Mass production car like the camaro's price point to a low production/high end sports sedan. Apples and Oranges.

I was | | this close to buying an IS-F but couldn't come up with the cash at 24. However, I've been pricing trading the camaro in for one since.

I'm fairly certain Lexus didn't design this car expecting to sell 1xx,xxx of them a year, nor did they target the pony car segment as where they wanted it to compete. It's a luxury sport sedan, meant to compete with the Audi S4, the M3 and the CTS-V - not Camaros and Mustangs. You're completely missing the point of this car.
