My dealer was local to me in NJ but searched for the ZL1 I wanted. They said they would go a maximun search of a 250 mile radius for the car I wanted. They found what I was looking for in East Syracuse. Gave them a deposit and in a week it was mine.

I'm down to a few cars and am now considering going out of state to expand my search. Pretty much down to a ZL1, M3, CTS-V (Id like the wagon), maybe waiting to see the ATS-Vs, and if all the planets were to align a used GT-R. Im thinking a ZL1 actually might be the cheapest of the group it purchased new unless I could find a 2013 CTS-V.
I orded a 2012 and all the local dealerships wanted over MSRP. I found a allocation at russell chevrolet in AR on this board. ordered the car@msrp and had it set up for courtesy delivery.

then the 2012 alocations got cut back. I got pushed to 2013 so I bartered them down to supplier price cause I got hosed. Got built the first week of 2013 production the car got drop shipped to lassen in albany oregon.

got the car for $55,700. Lassen charged me $200 for the courtesy delivery.

moral of my story I always tell peopel is try to find a large dealer with good alocations then just have the car courtesy delivered. what screwed me was I was number 3 of 4 for 2012 and when they cut back Russel lost 3 and 4. had I called 1 hour earlier and been number 2 I would have got my car in may but paid 2k more ha ha. So I took delivery in july but saved 2k all in all.

In April 2012 the mark-ups were huge around here, so I went 2000 miles east for my ZL1 and I wouldn't do it again. I'd wait for the prices to come down locally.

Davidson Chevrolet in Canton Ct has 5 of them. 3 coupes and two convertibles. I bet you could get a good deal on one of them being that winter is sadly approaching.

Out of state buying

Bought mine out of state after looking at Autotrader.com, I had a 2013 ZL1 on order in July of last year and the car was then pushed back to spring of this year. I found exactly what I wanted in Dallas,TX. I bought everything over the phone and FedX papers, had it delivered to my door in 8 days for $700. Everything went really smooth. I would do everything again to get exactly what I want but next time I will go with Becky at Rogers Chevrolet!!

The car that I originaly ordered is sitting at Bob Brown Chevy in Des Moines, IA and has been there for awhile, if you want a 2013 ZL1 vert in CRT loaded give them a call and talk to Allen (he's a really good salesman). I know they are ready to deal with winter coming.

I had arranged everything before traveling. Had my financing set up with my local bank. And had my down payment. in hand. Gave the dealer my check and my bank's check and I was out of there in 30 minutes. One of the fastest car transactions I ever done. I had to pay the sales tax and registration when I got back to Tennessee. But I rode out the full 30 days on that temp tag before I went to the county clerk office here at home to pay that tax bill.

I'm thinking of selling my 2013 M6 AGM! Then again, I may just see what deal I can get on a new stingray. I'll be moving to Texas soon, so I'd rather sell my ZL1 now and get the new vette once I'm in Texas. First things first though, I still haven't even seen or test drove the new stingray, but its a beauty in all the pics and vids!

My local dealer/stealer wanted 5K over sticker for their one allocation for a 2012 so I started a search and found a black/black auto in North Charleston, South Carolina. I rented a car and drove the 430 miles to get it and drove back to Richmond, VA the same day. That was an easy way to get through 1/3 of the break in mileage. I had it at the dragstrip the next day with 500ish miles on the clock.

She also will deliver it to your driveway in a super awesome trailer if you'd prefer that.

I went with the super awesome trailer.
