Happy New Year to the OP.
No,not having a bad day. I just cannot believe no one reads a manual anymore about their car.Car companies put those with the car so questions like the OP asked could be answered. But I guess it is easier and faster now to get on the net and find out what you need to know. Maybe the car companies will quit putting them in the cars and the price will come down since we have the net to look things up!!!

I have a 2013 but I'm pretty sure I don't have anything like that up there. I have cellular and onstar and those goodies. I'm curious what that is. I have not been in my car for a while because of the weather but may go check next time I'm in the garage.

I am thinking maybe something to do with homelink for the garage door opener. Did not find any info in the owners manual for my 11 that had it and my 13 manual is on order.

Not everyone gets a manual.
Some order it with an automatic.

I was referring to the Lane Avoidance feature, and I don't see it listed anywhere either as standard or part of an option package on the 2014 ZL1 on Chevy's web site.

I'd look on mine (2013 vert) but it's covered up and in a storage locker.

As previously stated - I asked my dealer what it was at delivery and no one knew. At first I thought it was the sensor for rain sensing wipers but it's not.

I've been through the owners manual several times and it's not in there either. There aren't any buttons or switches on it so it must not have any function for the owner which explains why it's not covered in the owners manual.

It does have a lot of wires going into it - So my guess is like many of the others on here that it has something to do with the Home Link or OnStar.

My guess is it's the accelerometer for the G-meter. Not sure if that is offered on the SS's.

So he should read the entire manual to answer one question? Not like he can look up "black box on mirror" in the index.

Yikes... That's EXACTLY what this forum is for, among other things.

I Challenge you to find information on that box in the owners manual and report back.

It's not the kind of thing a manual would typically describe. I got the same thing in my
'13. I thought it was an On-Star related gizmo.

Just disconnect it and see what doesn't work anymore.
