Do you live or work close to rail road tracks? It could be rail dust (rust) that got on your car.

Its getting worse in the rain! I have tried to clean it off and after the loose rust is off, I am left with pin head sized dots!
I have railroads within 1/2 mile both north and south of my home.

+1 on the clay bar and polish. Sounds like industrial fallout/rail dust. Unfortunately it is usually VERY noticeable on the white and lighter silvers.

Local autoparts store. It is actual clay that you use in combination with a detail spray to rub over the paint to remove contaminents. It is amazing stuff. I highly reccommend it. It comes in a kit with spray and the clay.

Claybar is the way to go for that as others have mentioned. From my experience living close to tracks you will see it more than others that do not live close to tracks especially with a lighter color car.

I know it has been said a bunch of times already, but I'll reinforce: clay your car, then hit it with a good polish. With each layer of polish, you get more protection and less of the dust will stick, and it'll be easier to get off.

Zaino is your friend.

The clay bar gives great results. I removed water spots off my truck and it worked great so it should work for the rust spots.
