Factory warranty details
I picked up a 2011 1ss a couple weeks ago with 9500 miles. I went with an extended warranty with Carmax for $1200 that is 6 years 75,000. I just read that these cars come with 5 year 100,000 miles powertrain. Should I call and drop the warranty I purchased, because I do have the choice to do so.

Hmm... Depends on what your extended warranty covers. I bought a used 2010 with 9000 miles on it and bought an extended warranty that covers it for another year or 2 and is bumper to bumper rather than just powertrain. I think the factory warranty only covers bumper to bumper for like 30K or something. Powertrain will only cover engine and transmission and that stuff.

The normal GM warranty is 3 years 36 thousand miles bumper to bumper, 5 years 100 thousand miles on the powertain.
Your warranty is through a 3rd party company, not GM. |

I just bought an extended warranty because the power train has not been an issue. Non power train things have been an issue

I have the GMAC extended warranty, however that price seems high. I paid much less for 5 yr/ 60k, maintenance and gap all at together.

Personally I would wait to buy the extended warranty until you see how the car behaves. If the car is prone to issues then buy the warranty, if not then don't buy it. You have up until the original warranty runs out to purchase the extended warranty.

Never really a big fan of extended warranties...not sure, but I think even with those everything is "pro-rated" and not 100% replacement cost...dunno...

I went ahead amd got it, but was told I could drop it at anytime and it would come off the end of my payment, so if I drop it now, it would actually shorten the length of my Loan by a month or two. I was acreage bit to get it. If I dint have any trouble outa te car I may drop it on down the road.

The "choke and croak"ins., extended warranties, window engraving and fabric protection are all extra gravy for the dealers.
I always tell the salesman if the guy in the hot seat even mentions them the deal is off. |

The GM warranty is 36000 or 3 years and every thing else is 5 years or 100000 miles. The extended warranty will cover the power train for the years or mileage you have gotten.
