i really hate the situation everybody's in right now, but Chris is right - rules are rules & if they make exceptions for 'special' people, then things start getting political within the site itself. camaro5 already has already dealt with enough bad publicity about having certain cliques that 'get away' with breaking forum policies.

shoot, like i mentioned earlier, i got what i thought was a :BS: slap with the modstick a while back because a post of mine inadvertently stirred a political discussion. did i think it was fair? no, but i understood that it helped break a big rule & took my punishment.

personally, i think there are other certain places where rules are expressly 'bent' but kept getting swept under the rug because everybody finds a way to sugar-coat what they post to keep it 'technically legal'

what's worse is that it's posts like that (and sometimes tamer) that got people infracted/banned not too long ago.

then out in the left wings, you got people who ***** & moan when the mods actually do enforce the rules. then they stir up a big fuss about how they're just on some big ego trip abusing their mod powers. they're the ones who need to grow up & realize that punishments are what keep rules legitimate & anarchy at bay.
