I did it once. Bought the car and then got a call from another dealer on the same model car. I actually drove the car to the other dealer and compaired them side by side.

He offered me a smokin deal and told me I had 3 days to make the return. This was Louisiana...

as soon as you drive it off the lot. (here in WI)

Who's making you offers? How do you know it's the best deal?

Even though you signed the paperwork but as long as you don't take delivery of the vehicle, you can change your mind. You might lose the $500 dollars though. That happened to us when we bought our Camaro. The finance manager said that we would be responsible for the payments even though we didn't drive the Camaro off the lot.He was saying that to scare us but we made sure to take care of that. We ended up getting a better deal with another dealership.

Here in MI you do not have three days to return a new car. That is a common misconception. I think that is some kind of law to protect people that sign contracts in their home, like window installation and things like that.

Once you drive it away it's yours, so don't do it unless you're 100% sure! Though I am not sure about NY....

Where in LI did you guys get your Camaro's? I ordered mine in December, and I should be accepting delivery next week... Just curious where you guys went.

If you have already signed the papers and they have submitted the loan, getting out will not be a "pleasent" experiance.

After I drove mine off the lot I would not have let anyone take it away from me! They'll have to pry it from my cold dead butt!

I just got my Camaro a few days ago. Can you tell?

I would trust what Scotty says, however, all states are different. I would imagine that if you haven't driven it anywhere, you should be able to back out. Just my guess.

As soon as I say it's a deal or shake hands I wouldn't even think of going back on my word. Anyone even considering it is an idiot or typical X gen. One of the things we all have in this life is our word, you comprimise that and you never get it back and forever marked as a liar.

i love these " all you got is your word" people ... yeah yeah "Mr. Appropriate" ... never done a thing wrong ... Mr. "I'm a stand up guy" ...

Here's a news flash ... car dealers are scumbags, yeah i said it .. i'll do what i want and not feel poorly about it. It's my money, I make the rules ... I'm not going to listen to this "man of your word" shpeel ... save it ... you want to be dignified, go stop war, go stop big brother ... go investigate "HAARP"

When in rome, do as the romans do ... so when dealing with snakes (aka car dealership) I dress a little differently for the occasion... capish?

half of the dealers you cant get a straight answer out of until papers get involved.

I'll do as i wish and not feel badly, dealing with car dealerships is it's own entity and in my opinion, all bets and rules are off in that type of dog eat dog environment.

Interestingly enough, how many of you "hand shake never break a deal" persons pass homeless people by in the street everyday as you go about with your head high up patting yourself on the back about how respectible you are?

Save it ... do something worthwile as opposed to selling us tainted dreams of how responsible you are ...

Here in PA there is no "cooling off" period on auto sales. I use to work at a dealership and my finance manager would explain that to everyone before they gave up their John Hancock. With that being said, if you weren't told about that then chances are either way you can argue it and most likely get out of the deal. I'm pretty sure regardless of state, auto sales is a "full-disclosure" process. Meaning, they have to tell you EVERYTHING, no ands ifs or buts.
