Apc and water with a microfiber should do it unless it's really baked on. In which case I'd use #0000 steel wool to break up the carbon then polish the tips out.

A small section of clay bar will do the trick too

Once you eventually get them clean, just soap and water each wash will work after that.

Depends on how bad it is, first I soak it with SCG APC if its bad enough and let it soak, then i get my rim bucket and grab the microfiber, if that doesn't work then I go to the foam applicator pad that is used for wax. If that doesn't work than I go to the steel wool, if that doesn't work I cut the tip off and call it a day. Be sure to use a good sealant on it and you won't have to do anything but use a soapy microfiber next time.

What is your justification for the foam applicator?

It's just another step I use before a more aggressive step. It has some cutting properties to it more than a wet microfiber and less than the steel wool when use with pressure

after you get them all clean, wax them whenever you wash your car - it'll make it easy to keep clean and polished. i did this for eight years on my Solstice GXP and well…..
