battery cables

Our vin # is 7602 RS/2SS. Our dealer has been great about updates and checking. He called DBC (dealer business center?) yesterday with me there. Our car was built 5/5-5/6 and is, has been, sitting in Canada waiting for the cable recall since that time. The gentleman at the DBC stated that they are not given anything in terms of time frame to repair, only that it is waiting for it.

He said they are being given very little in terms of not only time to complete the fix but also very little concerning schedules or estimated dates. Only that they receive dates when they have been confirmed.

He said that all cars are entering the US by rail. I know the cars that I have checked in Ohio don't show up on the rail list and that must be because they are shipping by truck from the unload point in Dearborn/Pontiac.

All in all, the delays are frustrating, but will make getting the car all the better!

There were 1300 cars in the recall I can't find the link but it was on the GM Blog site that stated the exact number

Wouldn't it make more sense to ship it to the dealer and have them fix it in the 20-30 min time frame then have them sitting in QC for weeks or am I way off in my thinking?

Thanks for the info. This kinda confirms mine [#6125] is waiting for the repair there as well.

I'm in Indy... on the north side... you looking for a race?

Sorry it's off topic, but I had to say it

Called GM support about recall hold of V8's

On the phone he said he believes they ARE holding off SHIPPING the v8's to correct the battery cables.

Its just what Alex said at the GM support line. (do we trust them more than dealers or not?)

I thought I would ask around to get an answer...

This isnt a big deal for cars not built because they will change the process on the line. For cars built they have to get fixed which ive heard takes 30mins to an hour.

So if my car is being built this week, it shouldn't be held for this recall?

Okay, got the campaign done today and yes the positive lead was worn a little. The lead had no slack at all; I mean zip, none, nada... All good now.
