Me either (driven in as cold as 27 degrees F). If you aware that it is very cold, just use caution. Then again, I became a good cold weather driver after driving BMW M3s in the Wisconsin winters for 4 years. That said, I worry about damaging them if it goes below 20 degrees.

I'll probably pick up the Michelins though. Does anyone know of any problems if I keep 285s in the front and put 315s in the back? Just confirming that there are no problems doing that. I am not mechanically inclined at all. Thanks.

Same here, drove plenty of rear wheel drive cars with some power through Illinois winters for 16 years.

You just have to fight the urge to let your lead foot override your brain. Sure I get some tire slip, but nothing that is going to throw me off of the road.

I also drove fast rear wheel drive cars in NY winters for 20 years too. Today's cars are much easier to deal with then the old 80's Mustang GT 5.0 I had. With all of the electronic nannies in today's cars, we are spoiled.

The wheel diameter will be different in front vs the rear, and you may see a "low traction" light at higher speeds. Not sure if anything else can happen on a 5th gen but I have seen this first hand on the 4th gens.

The diameter of the fr wheels vs rear will be different by about 1". Google "tire size calculator", plug in the numbers and you'll see

*edit - here you go Link

the michelin looks at 315 too big, thats really ugly so i think on 295 it will look the same like goodyear on 305.

but i think i will need the michelin because all say they are the best, with the grip and handling. the goodyear are really terrible.

and other options nobody talks about.

Could you do 295/35/20 on all fours? I know speedometer would be off some...would there be any other issues?

Speedometer wouldn't be off but the front wheels aren't wide enough.

You should probably read the entire post before posting that the front wheels aren't big enough for 295's. This is the ZL1 specific section and there are several posts of the 295's on the front, 285's are stock front......

Could you do 295/35/20 on all fours? ...what more is there to read.

Except maybe that we are talking about Michelin Pilots. Take a look at the pictures I posted in this thead. Sure you can probably make them fit but they won't look right.

thanks guys...I know the z28 uses 305 in 19" all around with fender flares not suggested for a daily driver I'm told.

The Z28 will have a different backspacing also than any other Camaro wheel...otherwise I don't think you could run those humongous 305's on the front with out rubbing inside wheelwell.
ZL1's will take the 305 I bet, but might rub in and out of driveways, turning where the wheel moves up. Need a 11" wide rim for them also. Stock ZL1 front is 10" wide.
