L99 owners - high flow cats, cat back exhaust, and AFM

I am trying to cover all of my concerns before I buy high flow cats. I bought the MBRP system designed for the L99 / 6 speed auto and it sounds great, but too quiet. I know high flow cats will wake that right up and provide a little power gain, while allowing me to avoid getting a tune (reason for not getting long tubes)

any owners out there in the same boat that went through with it? L99, HFCs and a catback without a tune? I am concerned that when AFM kicks on the exhaust will sound sound will turn crappy and amplified, currently AFM is not a concern at all.

I may just chance it and see how it goes but would like to avoid the resale hit and install times if someone's already experienced this and disliked it.

I have a L99 with LTH, x-pipe and loudmouth 1. I had my loudmouth 1 installed(which is basically muffler delete) before i got my tune and AFM was still on, it was noticeable when AFM kicked in but it didn't sound THAT bad. it wasn't crazy annoying but it was noticeable. then i bought a diablosport for $290 and a cord that is used to connect it to my computer or laptop. anyway i turned off afm with that and had a local specialty mechanics shop use my diablosport connected to his laptop and got me a tune. then i bought LTH(no cats) and an x-pipe. I'm getting high flow cats soon and getting another tune with a different program that the mechanics shop is using and not charging me. But if i stopped after loudmouth 1 and got no tune i would be happy. but if u got headers it would be really noticeable and i assume annoying. sorry if i rambled lol.

I have jba highflow cats resonator delete with edelbrock x pipe and muffler delete. I love my exhaust and so does everyone that hears the car. What I do to avoid A F M is put the car in manual mode shift up to third and then down shift to second and then up shift back to third this disables A F M but you have to stay in manual mode if you put it back in drive A F M comes back....everyone say my car sounds mean as hell

I installed ARH w/high flow cats to the stock t/pipes and mufflers first. It was good, but the AFM would cut in and out which was annoying, so, I installed a CAI and a custom tune. Shut off the AFM and the car is awesome. Ran it on a road trip for 5200 miles and it performed flawlessly. 24.3 MPG at 70-75 most of time. Get-er-done.

Being a California car i have not messed with the long tubes or High flow cats. I have done a Flowmaster Cat back but my best investment has been my SCT x3 handheld tuner with a tune from Janetty turning off my AFM and tuning the transmission shift points

I'm sure the tunes the best thing for an L99 if you want to have some fun with it. I just really value the warranty until I have put some serious miles on the car and have it thoroughly looked over. 2k miles and no track time yet, not the time to break the warranty for me.

warranty in tack, just reload stock tune when it goes in for service, no problems.
