The toll roads in northern Virginia are just as big of a scam/racket.

This blog post is scary as hell. I've lived in Virginia for 13 years and it is very well protected by police on the roads.

Now if someone could send me a link for that undetectable radar detector...

Most people I know that have lived here in the northeast know not to speed thru these three states: Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Once you get past those states then you'll be good.

The BEL STi Magnum

http://radartest.com/BEL-STi-Magnum-review.asp

Escort Redline is the other one and ranked very high like the BEL.

I got a buddy that lives in Richmond and he said the Governor told all the police to right as many tickets as they can. They need the revenue tickets generate.

Many cops, like yourself, are car guys. I've had good luck with them, as long as you are respectful and don't lie. I'll usually use self-debasing humor to admit my wrong.

In VA, I think it's more the law instead of the police. They may be fearful of letting you go, only to see you kill someone further down the road. That said, I think the law is draconian in nature and should be modified.

I've had this one for almost 10 years with not one problem. they also have a "Redline" detector that I think is also "Stealth" now. Truckers use the STi and their livelihoods depend on it. That was enough for me to buy it. BTW, the detector is well built with some sort of a metallic coating. I've banged it around over the years and still not problems.
