If you think the new z/28 could be a DD, think again
Some people on here have said sure it can be a daily, just add this or just add that. Wrong! IMHO the z/28 will be a pure track only/weekend only garage queen because of one very important upgrade. Brakes! We don't know what the maintance cost will run on the carbon ceramics for the z/28, but if they run anywhere near what the zr1s you better be prepared to pony up some well earned dollars just for parts. Running around 1700 for just pads and another 2400 a piece for ceramics your could very well be looking at over 10k for a full rotor and brake job.
GM made an awesome track car and I can't wait to see them at the track!! |

I would swap them to SS brakes, and drive the piss out of it! Seems like this car will not be had by normal folk though! Makes me sad because i love the new look and ls7.. Would be nice if we can use the new body parts, I love the changes! Ill by this car used at some point if possible, I have a bad feeling were talking big coin even years down the road :(

90% of people will buy a z28 and not take it to the track..... id buy one...not use it as an everyday car, but I would do more street driving than track. although it would go to the track..... but it is a very streetable car. there should be nothing keeping it from not being able to be an every day(no snow) weather car.

only 1 speaker, A/C optional - it'd be a good DD.

In addition to the brakes, don't forget how cheap the tires are to replace....I mean they are only 60 treadwear, so they are gonna last a long time right? They are only about $2500 for a set.....

Why the hell not? Easy to swap back for track days and not wast them on street driving! Thats just me though, Id put headers and a cam in it too and never look back! With thinking like that yours would sit in the garage and wast away.

Just ask a zr1 owner how many times they have to replace their rotors and you'll get your answer.
Here's a hint: You're overreacting. If GM classifies the car as a streetcar then you can be assured those brakes have been tested for road abuse from us abusive owners.

My point is for as much as I would drive it, I would rather wear down a set of SS brakes and not worry about a 4k brake job in 3 years! Either way, good chance if this car is 75k I wont have one for a long time.
